This is just a quick post updating you on my lack of tennis content lately. I have been suffering from writing fatigue regarding tennis leading into the London ATP Finals which saw me miss much of the event. Actually I am all tennis'd out for the year and decided to give myself a break from writing about the sport.

Writing Can Sometimes Feel Like You're in a 5th Set Tie Break vs Nadal

Writing about the same sport day in day out in depth can sometimes feel like you've just gone 5 sets with Nadal and you still ain't finished. It's that moment you begin writing and feel you have nothing left to offer. That's why variety is so important when writing just as it is when your playing sport. At some point your going to end up with an injury that stops you doing the thing you love and you just need a break from it, if you have a back up plan or in this case another topic to write about it's a big plus. I am going to start writing some articles on casual sports games, as I do like to play them from time to time. As my finger as healed from another injury I will also begin some light rock climbing again with a coach friend here. I'll be doing some posts about the amazing abilities and adventures of the world's best climbers - both free and sports climbers.

Don't Push Yourself to Breaking Point, Your Not Immortal

I also play so much tennis that when it comes to writing mixed with playing it can all get a bit too much for the brain. I recently developed a deltoid injury from bad serving technique which will also see me out of action from playing tennis for probably a month, which I find rather frustrating. But as I have caught the aggravation in it's early stages, no bid damage as yet been done.

Apparently having spoken to a coach of coaches here in Bangkok it's quiet common. This guy use to be an umpire on the Challenger Circuit and a teacher for new tennis coaches. He has alot of experience with sports injuries from anyone playing a sport where you hit or throw a ball overhand including Tennis, Volleyball, Baseball etc.

What happens is you do not correctly rotate your hips to allow the throwing arm space to move into when you are finishing your throw or strike of the ball above your head. Instead you allow the arm to squash into the chest muscle because your hips and body remain square and you end up pulling part of your deltoid muscle into an unnatural position.

The deltoid is the big shoulder muscle and when you pull your arm around your chest rather than turn your body to allow your arm to keep separate to your chest, you stretch the shoulder muscle to a position it is not meant to go.

In time this can tear the muscle. I have been serving like this for many years now and rather than be like most sports people and think I can play through I am going to do the opposite and exercise some self control whilst I heal.

I don't mind giving up tennis for a while to learn from my mistakes, i'm sure I will be back to it shortly but having a month off from both writing about it and playing can only help!

What's with the All Seeing Eye?

The official Scorum game should be out shortly. The team is just picking around our code to ensure there are no security vulnerabilities with the game. This is typical Scorum - they always have high security standards when it comes to peoples crypto currency and user information, very professional even when it comes to hosting a simple SWF on their serve - impressive! But the first version of the game is now complete and will also be launching on Android soon so I will update everyone here as to when it is made available at the Play Store.

The all seeing eye is a feature of the logo and in game icon. I came about this idea because I wanted to combine a zombie theme and a sports theme together. So I thought what better way to do this than to take the worlds most popular sport and merge a zombie eyeball with a football to perfectly capture the games theme and the Scorum brand.

I got the inspiration for the large zombie eyeball football from one of my favourite games Resident Evil 2 where Doctor William Birkin mutates into a giant zombie monster after injecting himself with the G Virus. The giant eyeball appears in his huge right arm and is rather freaky looking moving independently of Birkin himself.

It could also give players a clue as to where the game could possibly go if it takes off and becomes popular, in particular if the game gets the green light on mobile app stores Google Play and possible iTunes.
