Hello to all, following the series of post above, I will keep writing in the history of this great sport through the time. Hope you like :]

The 80s supposed the birth of the Modern Skate, as we know it nowadays.

It began to evolve enormously in terms of material and tricks. The vert was the discipline more popular, but at the end of the eighties the Street skateboarding begins to grow a lot too. We can say that the 1980s were one of the golden times of the Skateboarding.

The skateboard had a greater influence in international culture that stretched from the hard style-edged of punk that the majority of the skaters preferred until the style quiet, clothes color land and tennis shoes retro that the skaters used.

In this era arose brands mythical of clothing and accessories for skaters as Powell Peralta, Vision, Santa Cruz, independent, etc.

The 80s coincided with the rise of VHS video, the videos of skate made that the popularity of the skate would reach a new international growth.

New techniques appear in the skate like the jump of spaces, the jump of steps.

At the same time, the practice on ramps knows an increasing success, it becomes fashionable, but it is still a sport that practises a minority of amateurs.

But everything changed thanks to "Bones Brigade", one of the teams most legendary that there has been and whose videos accounted for a before and after in the dissemination of skateboarding. In that team had legends such as Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Rodney Mullen, Lance Mountain, Stacy Peralta, Mike McGill, etc. well-known names still today.

The expansion of Street skateboarding

In the 90, the popularity of the skate returned to fall fairly. The skate was associated much the style underground, and the skaters did not have a good reputation.

The vert fell during years almost into oblivion and, on the other hand, the street skateboarding was developed a lot. Young people from all over the world stormed the streets and took any obstacle of the urban furniture to make their tricks.

The form of the tables are changed until the current and the wheels are greatly reduced in size, evolving until the skate that we know today.

In the mid-1990s, with that image of the skaters associated with the punk and rebellion, skate returned to gather in the youth of a generation somewhat unhappy that was looking for a change.

It was also founded many brands of skate. Marks that are now historic and Flip, Toy Machine, Foundation, Antihero, Creature, etc.

In this period, the skate it becomes more technical, leaving aside the aesthetic appearance and appear new figures such as the flip or switch.

In 1995 the Extreme Games (now called X Games) were created by ESPN. Since the first year the X Games have been held annually.

Curious fact

On 27 June 1999. The Holy Grail of skateboarding, "the 900" (two rotations and mean) was executed in the X Games of summer in a ramp by Tony Hawk. Before considered as impossible, Tony had tried this trick for ten years and he did it in its eleventh attempt that day.
