History

This historic moment is the fourth time they have seen the world through sports. The unification flag was first used in 1991 when the two Koreas competed in a team at the 41st World Table Tennis Championship in Chiba (Japan) and the 6th World Youth Football Championship in Lisbon (Portugal).

Then it continued at the opening of the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney (Australia), the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens (Greece), the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin (Italy), and the 2006 Asian Games in Doha (Qatar), although at that time the two Koreas competed as two different teams.

Then in 2018, at the XXIII Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea (February 9-25, 2018) they were also on a unification flag and agreed to join the women's number ice hockey sport in the flag.

Chairman of the Asian Olympic Council (OCA) Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Sabah said the holding of the Asian Games in Indonesia had made history because it had united two countries on the Korean Peninsula.

"We scored history today, because two Koreas joined a team to compete in the 2018 Asian Games," Al-Sahab said in his remarks last night at the Bung Karno Stadium.

Continue to reconcile North Korea and South Korea from sports to politics. Let's give peace to the world. Greetings of peace and unity from Indonesia...!!!
