It's no news that the most popular sport in Africa is football, which nevertheless isn't bad but when something overshadowed all other beautiful sports out there it becomes a bit bad or should I say unhealthy?

Little attention is being paid to other sports in Africa. I and a friend were having a conversation on this earlier today. And we were able to bring forth ways through which other sporting activities can gain recognition.

One of the ways we talk about was through;

African home TV and radio broadcasting stations. If you have lived or you are living in Africa you will surely know that football is a widely broadcasted sport and other sports are minimally broadcasted. We do see various talk shows on the sport, soccer (football) but I am yet to see a sports show dedicated to talking only on just tennis, basketball, golf or racing. If a show is being broadcasted and these underrated sports in Africa are to talk about, football surely will be the first in the lead. If Africa home broadcasting stations, try to bring these sports to light, I do think they will come to the recognition they ought to have.

Secondly, I will talk about our primary and secondary(high) schools. During my secondary school days, football was the sport that was being played every day(during break time), competition between other schools was being held also. The only time we got to participate in other sporting activities was during the school's inter-house sports competition which usually takes place, once in a session(a year). So students that may love a sport apart from football where being limited from keep practicing and playing such sports.

If primary and secondary schools in Africa give more recognition to other sports and let their students practice and take part in them. These sports will definitely come more into the light of recognition
