Filipino Thrower just engraved Asean School Games history and that the Philippines got 4 gold medal.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - The Philippines have gained a new mark in the 2018 ASEAN Schools Games campaign.

17-year-old Ann Katherine Quitoy recorded a new mark on girls javelin event at 49.18 meters at the Mini-Stadium of the National Sports Complex in Bukit Jalil for Team Philippines's fourth gold medal.

Quitoy cleared the previous 46.04-meter record which is recorded by Malaysia's Devi Jayaindran Pavithraa in the last edition of the Singapore tournament. In this edition, Iloilo thrower James Lozanes also got a mark in the boy's javelin.

Quitoy beat Klinla-Or Supisara of Thailand (47.89m) and Firliana Yuni Fira of Indonesia (43.35m).

Prior to Quitoy's impressive win, Jessel Lumapas, 2018 Palarong Pambansa's most outstanding athlete in athletics, won the gold medal in girls 400m run at 57.46 seconds.

Followed by Pratike Rawiwan of Thailand (57.10) and Maulidah of Indonesia (57.54).

On Sunday, Team Philippines, composed of medalists in the past Palarong Pambansa, the gold medal in girls high jump and long jump.

Trexie dela Torre, a Bacolod City's bet, scored 5.84 meters for the girl's event in her personal best match against Mahira Hanis Binti Ishak of Malaysia (5.83) and Vietnam's Hoang Thanh Giang (5.83).

Beaten in Negrense a personal record of 5.44 meters which he recorded during the 2018 Palarong Pambansa in April in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

Awarded the first Filipino gold medalist Evangelene Caminong during the girls high jump event at 1.74 meters.

"Before my turn, I prayed that it would be a good thing to do. Now I enjoy my win and my experience here (I prayed to God to bless me during my turn. Right now, I'm very happy with my accomplishment and I'm enjoying my ASG experience), "said Grade 11 a student of Romanito P. Maravilla National High School who competed in the tournament for the first time.

According to Adriana Arca, the athletics girls coach, he feels that Dela Torre will win the gold medal before the fight.

"She was prepared and ready for this competition," Arca said.

At the University Technology Mara (UTM) Sports Complex in Shah Alam, the boys achieved a bronze medal in sepak takraw doubles category, while Thanya Dela Cruz took the podium after completing a 50-meter breaststroke swimming competition at Darul Aquatik Center in Shah Alam, Malaysia.

This is really a great outcome from Philippine Team that they have shown their talent to the world that they can compete internationally. I am really proud that we have how a total of four gold medals in Asean School Games.

It really helps the popularity of Philippine Athletes in regards to sports. This can be a big push for other Filipino athletes to practice harder that they too can compete for other athletes from other countries.
