Underwater Hockey is a sports where both teams will be playing at the bottom of the swimming pool and competing themselves using hockey stick to have puck put into their goal. This game is also known as Octopush since the concept is more likely the same and it is combined with the usual hockey game. It is originated in Southsea, England where it is first played in the year 1954.

Number of players in each team are up to 10 and only 6 players are able to play. This is an underwater sports which needs following equipment for each players : diving mask, snorkel, fins, water polo cap and stick.

Since this type of sport has a limited contact to each others opposing opponents, there are still injuries that a players may suffer like sprains, torn muscles and light scratches.

This kind of sports is now popular with many countries such as United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa and the United States. And which are now being extend to many countries because of its unique type of sports.

The very first Underwater Hockey World Championship was held in Canada during 1980.
