Arpinder Singh has given India the first gold medal in the last 48 years in Asian Games by jumping 16.77 meters in men's triple jump (triple jump).
Trikudh (Triple Jump) athlete Arpinder Singh won the bronze medal in the IAAF Continental Cup and made a new history in Indian sports. But star spear throwing athlete Neeraj Chopra could not perform well and stayed in the sixth position.
Arpinder has become the first Indian to win a medal in this tournament. Arpinder, who won a gold medal in the Jakarta Asian Games, made 16.59 meters jump in his first attempt. After this, in the next two endeavors, he was able to jump 16.33 meters and thus failed to make a place in the final jump between two athletes. Although this Indian succeeded in getting bronze medals.
The 25-year-old Arpinder was representing the Asia Pacific team in this competition in a one-year event. They had jumped 16.77 meters in Jakarta, while their best performance was 17.17 meters, which they did in 2014.
No Indian has ever won a medal in the continental cup, which was known as the IAAF World Cup before 2010. The current US Olympic and World Champion Christian Taylor have won the gold medal with a jump of 17.59 meters.
