Hello everyone!

It feels good to slice up my blog with variants of posts. The only way I can make my blog interesting is versatility of posts. Making football posts all the time will not really add beauty to my blog. I don't want my blog to be a one way traffic 😁 Today, it could be gaming, tomorrow it could be football and vice versa 😁

Today. I'm just going to be talking about one of those old time games which brings back memories.

Draughts is one of those historical games usually played by old people. It's a game that has many variations and it's named according to different cultures and traditions. While you may call it draughts, some actually call it checkers. The game doesn't really have a universal but indigenous names. Of course, some of us play this game oblivious of the fact that it has historical background. Its historical background can be traced down to ancient Egypt. In case you want to know more about its historical background, you can easily read it here

It's a board game that involves two people and it's usually played by moving pieces diagonally. The game does not allow you to move pieces vertically and horizontally but diagonally. There are two coloured pieces, usually red and black. Although, some draughts have different colours aside red and black. I have seen green and blue, black and white and so on.

Each time I think of this game, I always remember my grandfather who passed away some decades ago. I remembered how his friends who lived miles away always gather in front of my grandfather's house boasting and challenging one another. I remember the winner remains in the game until someone is able to thrash him out. But in a situation when no one can thrash him, he will retain his seat

Draught is a game that requires critical thinking, calculations and observations before moving a piece. If you move a piece you're not supposed to move, you're probably going to lose the game and that's the main reason why it's not a game that is played in a hurry. As a player, you're expected to be looking for the mistake of your friend and then use it to your own advantage while your opponent does the same.

There's something called "a king" in the game of draughts. Any piece that is able to travel down to the first line of your opponent's territory is automatically crowned the king. The king is very powerful than an ordinary piece because it can move more than one step forward and backward. Aside that, it can also capture your opponent's piece from miles away. The more king you have the higher your chances of winning the games and vice versa and that's why your opponent will do all he can to prevent your piece from reaching his first line.

Draughts is a very interesting strategic board game. Despite the advent of PlayStation and the likes, some young people still play this game. It's a game that will always go down the memory lane of games. Kudos to developers who have made this game on mobile devices
