Taekwondo team never stops training in spite of Covid-19
In spite of the pandemic coronavirus Covid-19, the national taekwondo team still continue their practice by doing it in their home. The national team are preparing for the incoming 2020 Asian Olympic Qualifying Tournament which will be held at Amman. Jordan. Kristie Alora a 3 time SEA Games champion is also preparing for the Olympics and participated during the 2016 Rio Olympics held at Brazil, and also Arven Alcantara is also preparing for the coming event. Alcantara got bronze medal during the 2019 Manila SEA Games. According to PTA (Philippines Taekwondo Association) Chairman Stephen Fernandez that there was no list yet of who will participate in the Asian qualifying event but they have 5 prospects. Morrison will participate in mens 80kg while Barbosa in mens 54kg and Alcantara in mens 68kg. On the other hand, Lopez will be in womens 57kg, and Alora in plus 73kg. There will be only 4 athletes allowed for the Asian meet, 2 in mens divison and 2 in womens division. There are also a list of candidates, one is Dave Cea, SEA Games medalist in 74kg mens, Kristopher Uy, Kurt Pajuelas, Rheza Aragon, Dex Chavez, Veronica Graces and Jessica Canabal.
