Initially when I first saw Scorumpoker.com I had my doubts, I was worried it may be some outside ploy to getting login details/info for your Scorum account. Well that is NOT the case, there are many posts on Scorum like this one clearly showing the development of the idea. The browser platform is actually pretty efficient, nice selection of games and right now there is a fantastic amount of chances to get some free SCR through Freeroll Tournament's.
The Term and use of "Bankroll" in Poker
This may seem obvious but for newer players having a clear understanding of bankrolls is essential for all poker players at all levels. Your bankroll is essentially your Poker money, only it is a calculated to your life and situational game/purpose. So if you have an average life and some small savings and full committed to playing poker for money you should only really use 50% of your cashflow, designate it to poker as a bankroll.
Obviously this is all relative to individual circumstances and this example is related too real money games. The purpose of this post is primarily to make people aware this is a fantastic time to build a free bankroll, SCR that will sit in your poker account rather than transferring from the blog. This leaves you with more SCR and you can keep your earnings separate (so you know what can be risked).
Freerolls
As you can see freeroll tournament's run all day and right now every day too. What is also great is the variety of games, NLH, PLO, OHL and Mixed.
As Scorum and the poker platform grows it will become more competitive and who knows how long SCR freerolls will last. One huge advantage right now is these tournament's are not even close to being full! Almost running at around 10% capacity, usually giving you a 1 in 5/10 chance of getting free SCR and enjoying a game of poker!
So enter the freerolls, Build your "Chip" balance which acts as SCR and use that as your future Poker bankroll. Players are also very friendly and welcoming, youll find yourself not wanting to play anywhere else.
Other Bankroll guidelines for beginners
If your going to play a ring game you ideally only want to risk a maximum of10% of your poker bankroll at the table. This is to reduce the "luck factor" so when you hit a bad run you can reduce the drawdown. Stick to the 10% even as your balance may drop, so not the original balance. Most professional even do less, between 2-5% of what they have.
If you find yourself hitting 30% -40% down on your bankroll it's time for change. Read more books, look over hand histories and implement changes to your game.
