In what was an absolutely wild Saturday, I walked away with the top prize in the Scorum Poker 1,000 SCR Freeroll! I wish I could say it was all skill, but as you will see below, I credit the majority of my victory to pure dumb luck!

There were 49 players who came out for the game, which I believe is a new record. We have new players signing up daily with new games being introduced and great community members hosting freerolls.

This was the second 1,000 SCR Freeroll, and one I surely won't forget anytime soon. Here's a look at the action and how I was able to win 400 SCR.

The Action

After a lot of aggressive play coming from @philosophist, I was reasonably sure that my 10 10 was ahead after the second jack appeared on the board. Philosophist went all-in, and I called, only to see that I was way behind. There were only two cards in the entire deck that could save me, and one of them came, giving me a decent stack of just under 13,000 chips.

I was able to win another big pot off of my friend Tadas. The hand would've been a split pot if not for the 8 on the river, which gave me the full house.

In a very interesting hand, I flopped a set of 7's, but feared a player may have flopped a flush. I was able to call a small bet on the flop and a larger (5,000 chip) bet after the turn to see one more card. The 9 coming on the river gave me a full house, and I knew I was safe at this point. Sorry @girolamom!

Finally a hand that I was ahead every step of the way. At the final table I picked up a pair of aces, which held up against @thehive's pocket 5's. I now had a decent chip stack to work with, but my work wasn't done yet.

It got down to crunch time and as my stack dwindled I needed to make a big move. I went all-in and my A2 held against Chops' QJ. Still alive!

After raising all-in against Phoenix several times, she warned me that she will have a monster hand sometime soon. That happened as I had 88 to her pocket 9's. We went in on the flop and a 9-high flop all but ensured her victory. Somehow, I got two cards I needed and ended up with a straight, beating her set of 9's.

Two hands later I raised Phoenix all-in only to realize she once again had me beat with pocket queens. Luck was with me again as I pulled a miracle out of my butt on the river, winning with a full house (nines over sixes).

Chops and I had a great battle heads-up until my pocket 8's took out his 10A. Great game Chops!

I'd like to apologize to the players I got lucky against and thank @tuck-fheman for hosting this great tournament. It was great to see our largest crowd yet and I'm looking forward to more competitive tournaments just like this one.
