Have you heard about the biggest story in the world of poker of 2019? Shoot, it may be the biggest story in poker in the past decade, and it just keeps getting more and more interesting.

Starting with a single tweet from a concerned employee of the Stones Gambling Hall (@angry_polak on Twitter), what was a rumor has now turned into what looks like a full blown scandal involving the gambling hall, employees, and a highly regarded poker player who has earned hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past couple of years -- Mike Postle.

For the cliff notes version of the scandal, watch the Sportscenter clip above. To go deep down the rabbit hole of this scandal, be prepared to watch tens of hours of video and commentary. This is something I have been following since late September, and I just can't get enough. Watch Doug Polk's video below to get your feet dipped a little deeper in this potential scandal.

My Thoughts

After digging into the video evidence (although almost all of it is circumstantial), nearly all high-profile poker pros have concluded that Mike Postle was cheating on a live poker stream, taking hundreds of thousands of dollars from players that did not have the same information he had. By watching videos of the hands in question, you can see that Postle looks into his crotch, supposedly where his phone is, touched his head and neck, and then somehow makes the correct play, NEARLY EVERY SINGLE TIME. Now by correct play, I don't mean a smart play -- I mean an insane play that can only be made by someone who is either a literal mind reader, or someone who knows what the other players have in their hands.

The general thought on this scandal is that at the minimum, there was one Stones poker employee feeding Postle the information, which he then used to make the correct decision. What he has pulled off over the course of a year is statistically impossible, and there's also inconsistent play and decision-making, and even a few times where Postle seems to expose himself on accident. For example, he says "oh shit" when a turn card is flipped over during an all-in. The problem? His opponent had not flipped over their cards, meaning he had no real reason to think he was in trouble unless he knew through technology what his opponent was holding.

What are your thoughts?
