Omaha!

Omaha is a flop-based game much like Texas Hold’em with what seems like a simple twist; you get 4 cards instead of two in the ‘hole’. Here's the thing... you must play 2 cards from your hand. This can be confusing to donkeys some players... This means there are no four flushes or one card straights! n Omaha you use two cards … and exactly two cards ... from your hand plus three community cards to make the best five card poker hand possible.

Card Value

Card value is very different in Omaha compared to Hold’em. Hold’em has 169 different starting hand combinations; Omaha has 16,432... That Queen high flush you’re so in love with is probably no good. If you want to win at Omaha, you either need to be holding the actual nuts or drawing to it early.

'drawing to it’ means you are hoping for a specific card will come on the turn that will make the very best hand possible. Looking to scoop that massive pot? You’re going to need the stone cold nuts in Omaha.

Omaha Hi/Lo (aka '8 or Better')

In Omaha Hi/Lo, it's important to understand that sometimes there are TWO pots to be won; a Hi pot and a Lo pot. In order for any player to win the Lo pot, there need to be three UNPAIRED, 8 and lower, cards on the board. The 'nuts' in Hi/Lo is being able to 'scoop the pot' or win both sides of the game. For instance, A, 2, 3, 4, 5 would make you both a straight (Hi hand) and the Lo-est of the Lo's!
