A few days ago Mikey's post inspired me to re-start @mikey's and @bethalea's post series about worst bad beats in the SPL. They ran this "contest" in Steem Poker League and in my opinion that was a nice way to show some love to the players who got slaughtered with a butter knife while holding a bazooka in their hands.

The first collection of bad beats will be limited to only hands that I collected myself while playing in Scorum Poker League (so apologies for me being in a few of them) If you'll see a bad beat while playing in SPL I would appreciate if you would capture it and send it to me. That way more people will have a chance to win some consolation prizes :)

Do you recognize yourself in this video? :)

Speaking about prizes: worst bad beat will receive 15% of this post's payout, 2nd place - 10% and 3rd - 5%. We will be voting for January's bad beats next month. December's hands I ranked myself :) Doing that my criteria were as follows (in order of importance):

  1. Tournament's size;
  2. Amount of chips in the pot;
  3. Odds of winning (this is in 3rd place just because hands are already preselected).

At first a few honorable mentions:

All-in pre-flop
All-in pre-flop
All-in pre-flop
All-in after the flop (my chances of winning - 90%)

Top 3 Bad Beats for the Month of December

In the 3rd place, we have a hand between @kryptokeeper and @dehhive. Both players flopped amazing hands, but @dehhive was miles ahead with a full house! After the turn @kryptokeeper bet 3300 @dehhive raises to 6600 and @kryptokeeper goes all-in. Before seeing the river and @kryptokeeper's jack sailing in it @dehhive had 93% chance of winning. Later in the tournament poker Gods restored justice and dished out a bad beat to @kryptokeeper. @dehhive ended up winning the tournament.

All-in pre-flop

In the 2nd and 1st place we have the same 2 players in the final table of the biggest tournament of last year. Both hands were all-ins pre-flop. And in both hands, Phoenix had an 82% chance to win them! But poker Gods that day had other plans. Mikey won both hands, eliminated Phoenix and after a heads up battle against @chops316 won the tournament.

All-in pre-flop

Although all hands in the top 3 were bad beats I believe that all of them would be played the same way if the participants of these hands were put in the exact spot again. These were bad beats but not by donkeys :)

Do you agree with my choices? Were you badly beaten too? You can share your grief in the comment section ;)
