It takes a village to raise a child and it will take all of us to make Scorum a success. In this post I want to give you more information about the efforts of the SBC (join here), but also to highlight some other efforts you should know about and support.

The Scorum Bet is coming soon. The witness nodes are being updated to the v0.4.0 and the hard fork is scheduled for 2018-11-19T09:00:00 GMT.

What Is the SBC?

The SBC stands for the Sports Betting Community. The group has been founded by @acelad, @costanza, @fullcoverbetting, @stimp1024, and yours truly as a way to connect, organize, and support the bloggers on steemit that are publishing the sports betting related content.

As it turned out, steemit is not that friendly of an environment for the sports betting (or even sports in general) and our efforts were met with modest success. Luckily for us, Scorum showed up and we found a new home for our group. A place where we can thrive.

And thrive we did.

We are 250+ members strong (and growing) and we control a nice chunk of the SP.

What the SBC Has Done?

From the beginning our mission has stayed the same: identify, connect, and support the promising users on the platform. Since Scorum is not Steemit our activity is not the same on Steemit as it is on Scorum.

So far, we have supported the bloggers that deserve to be supported. We are supporting different local Scorum communities, as well as different curation efforts and the fight against the abuse of the platform.

What the SBC Will Do?

We are continuing to support the initiatives that we've been supporting and we are starting some new initiatives of our own.

I'm sure you've heard about the 5000 SCR Giveaway. Here's how it will work.

The first half of the prize money (2.5k scr) is the guaranteed prize fund shared equally among all of the contestants, while the second half (2.5k scr) is an additional prize that will be shared among the bettors that have finished the month in the profits.

Let me illustrate this a bit:

Say we have 50 participants and 25 of them finish in the money. The payout structure looks like this:

  • All 50 participants will get 50 SCR
  • The 25 in the profits will get additional 100 SCR

So, if you'are one of the lucky ones, at the end of the month you will get 150 SCR.

Since the betting exchange has not started yet at this time I can give you just the general picture. Here are some requirements you have to meet in order to take part in this contest:

  • join the SBC on Discord and leave the link to your scorum profile in the #introduceyourself channel
  • place at least 10 verified bets on the scorum betting exchange during the month of December
  • stake at least 500 SCR in total during the same month

The requirements above are subject to change. Once the betting exchange starts and we have all the details we need, we will publish the official post announcing the start of the SBC League.

Once the 5k scr promo is finished, we are starting the regular SBC league that will be supported by the community upvote account but that's a couple of months from now.

Back To The Village

Now that I gave you a brief introduction to the SBC and an overview of our past, present, and future activities, let me highlight some efforts to make Scorum a better place organized by different communities and members:

  1. The SPL's (join here) 1000 SCR Poker Freeroll - poker is a great way to bring people together and a chance to win some SCR while you're getting to know the other Scorum users. Tuck is doing a great job and you should follow and support his efforts.
  2. The @bjempire's Marketing Efforts - Don't think too much, just go and read the original post and the update and give it 100% vote and see if you can help with design.
  3. The @mauryis' Writing Contest - @mauryis of the Crypto Resistance (join here) is organizing a contest for the best post he can use to promote Scorum on different social media. Read the post for more details.

These are just some of the community efforts around the betting exchange. We should not forget the ungrateful and tiresome fight against the spam and abuse on the platform headed by @nhl and supported by @philnewton and @talesfrmthecrypt. Thank you guys!

(If you're a talented developer with some free time and you want to help contact @nhl)

I apologize to those that I forgot to include in this post. Do leave a comment below describing your efforts to make Scorum a success. After all, it takes a village...
