It is always good to see that the thing you are investing your time, knowledge, expertise, passion and money in is growing and maturing.
This is very much the case with the Scorum Platform!
As the team (@scorum) informs us there are several newsworthy additions to the platform in the latest update. Both the frontend aka the interface and the backend/blockchain logic are evolving.
Please read the original announcement. Here I will outline the news which I find important.
Powering down is now possible
Now you can convert your accumulated Scorum Power (SP) which give your vote strength into Scorum Asset (SCR). The procedure is usually called powering down and it takes 12 months in the weekly steps to complete.
That means you will get 52 transactions/conversions. For example:
When you convert or power down 1,000 SP to SCR, you will receive it in 52 weekly chunks of 19.231 SCR each week.
I suppose that the time periods and the number of transactions could change in the future.
This was the case with Steem platform, for example. There the period changed from original 12 months to 13 weeks.
With this new functionality, you can now monetize your involvement, as is popularly called.
Additions to the profile page
Members with their Scorum Power greater that 1,000 SP get a PRO badge now.
This is visible in several ways. As a star by your name with the posts displayed or as a PRO label on your profile.
Take a look at the examples to the left to see the exact graphics for this addition.
This way more involved members of the platform are, in a way, additionally featured. Which gives you another motive to be an active member.
Now you can also set your profile name which can be different from your member name.
See again the example. My member name is @ervin-lemark. I set my display name to be Ervin Lemark.
Just click on the settings icon on the top right of your profile and enter the name. Simple and effective.
Self-upvotes on the comments are disabled
Banned would be the proper word. This way one holy war is over with a decree from above. And it is good so!
When you click to upvote your comment you receive the following message.
Fair enough.
Additional language interfaces
Today, before reading the @scorum post about the new stuff, I accidentally bumped into the Russian version of the platform. So, now I am aware of four language-specific interfaces.
Since these interfaces are all on separate domains you have to log-in into each one. Still, you do have one username and password so you can use it for each of the following sites.
English
Russian
Indian
Turkish
Will your language be next?
Conclusion
It is obvious that the platform is evolving and that the @scorum team is hard at work. Which is excellent news for all of us.
