The year is coming to an end here in Bulgaria too. Some of you have already celebrated the arrival of the new year, others will follow after us here in the Balkan.

It's been a long time since I have been this excited to welcome a new year. The last time was in 2001, just a couple of hours before the start of 2002. From one moment into the other, we would suddenly have a different currency. I remember the weird feeling of that, the fact that until midnight you could still pay with your local currency, and then after midnight, the first thing you had to do was to get to an ATM and get your first ever Euro's out of the machines. This resulted in long queues everywhere in the Netherlands where I was living back then, and I suppose it was the same in other European countries. When I finally got my first Euro's in my hand, I didn't feel like spending them straight away, that is how special they were at that moment. It certainly was one of the weirdest moments in my life. The other one that I can really remember was the switch from 1999 to 2000. I remember finding it very special to enter a new millennium, and I spent all day long watching CNN to see all the celebrations from many different locations in the world how these people would be celebrating the new millennium. It was the same everywhere, a large number of people waiting outside, wherever they were, followed by a bunch of fireworks, before CNN would move over to the next location. Now that I think of it like that, it was pretty boring, but back then I thought it was really exciting.

Now, this year I am very excited again because something very interesting is going to happen in 2019, at least, that is what we all hope for and which we all believe. We will be going to the moon! This is my first ever cryptocurrency project in which I am involved and I am not familiar with that many terms being used in this world, but I understand the meaning of going to the moon. I honestly hope we will be able to achieve that in the new year. Luckily there are quite some people on here with crypto experience and they seem to be very positive about it as well, so I have no reason to believe that it is not going to work out like that. Heck, why would we even stop at the moon? We can go much further than that right? I have the feeling that Planet Scorum is many light years away from us, in the distance that is. If we could build a space shuttle that is going to send us to at least the moon this year, then in the upcoming years we should come closer to Planet Scorum. After all, we should have something to be excited about, as well after we've reached the moon right? I'm happy that we already know of the existence of Planet Scorum, all we need now is a bunch of people that believe us there is indeed a Planet Scorum, and all together, we will surely find it. This will be our view once we reach the moon. Whenever we reach Planet Scorum, we won't be able to see much fireworks, but I would be OK with that.

When it comes to sports, January 2019 is already having quite some interesting events to offer. I would like to ask you to aim to widen your range of featured sports. Of course, football (soccer) and the American team sports are the most popular here on Scorum, these are the most popular sports in the world anyway. It's completely understandable these are having the most followers and the most articles. However, there are so many other beautiful sports that need more regular updates from our sides. Just think about it and see if there's anything in here that you might want to follow in January that you had not thought of until this very moment. I'm sure there will be something that you will be at least slightly interested in.

What do you think? Where would you be interested in looking at this list?

Why not set yourself a goal and follow at least one sports event a month that you would normally not follow, and write at least one article about it.

Anyone writing a decent article on one of the above events and share the link with me in the comments will receive a full upvote from me to promote the article.

Not included in this offer are the AFC Asian Cup and the Australian Open, as these will be big events that will already be covered on Scorum without this promotion.

Happy New Year Scorum!!!
