I should preface this story by mentioning that I live outside Seattle and my father-in-law lives in Port Angeles; which is situated on the upper peninsula of Washington State across the water from Canada.
Being a technology major in college; my father-in-law had been trying to rope me into cryptocurrency for some time. I believe he has been invested since before the 'great upswing' this past quarter one but don’t quote me on that. My in-laws were visiting in August and that morning we were on our way to Starbucks; the stereotype of us 'Seattleites' and our coffee is spot on, by the way. My wife is an almond milk, non-fat, sugar-free loving Washingtonian.
On the way, my father-in-law; whom was sitting in the back with my daughter, exclaimed that if I bought him a coffee he would gift me a Litecoin (LTC). I was aware of the space enough from his sometimes not so subtle messages over the previous six months to know a good deal when I heard it. I downloaded the exodus wallet -- upon his suggestion -- and deposited that LTC later that afternoon. This particular coin has since been exchanged for Stellar (XLM). I also have holdings of Verge, Tron, Apollo, BAT and Holo currently.
I came across Scorum while perusing news articles on the iPhone app ‘Coin Stats’. Which, if you have a smart phone, is a gold mine for keeping up with the space. Daniel Frumkin -- an online crypto presence – stated that his coin for Q4 2018, that he expected to perform well, was Scorum. I read the following paragraphs and thought, “this cannot be real, it's too good to be true." My ten-year-old daughter happened to be in the room with me at the time and after rolling her eyes said, “great, now I have to listen to you talk about bitcoin -- of which my wife and her both think cryptocurrency is called -- and baseball even more than before.”
My name is Josh Dobner and I live in Kent, WA which is around 30 minutes south of Seattle; on a good day of traffic. I am 34-years-old and am Plant Operations Manager for FloForm Countertops; the largest counter top manufacturer (that I am aware of) in North America. I have been blessed to be a part of that company the past seven years and attend work each day knowing I have found my place. I hope the majority of you feel the same about your current situation; it really is empowering.
I just celebrated my ninth wedding anniversary earlier this month and am a father to three kiddos; aged ten, seven and four. No sarcasm, I am quite blessed.
If you google me, undoubtedly you'll see an inundation of Seattle Mariners content over the years. Previously I have written for SBNation, Fox Sports Next and Scout. I have taken the majority of the past four years off to accommodate my growing family but also my real life career.
I have always had baseball specific – or even Seattle Mariners specific – positions in the journalism industry. When I arrived at Scorum, I immediately dove into Seattle baseball as that is where i have operated in the past. Then I realized -- actually just yesterday -- that one of the greatest benefits of the Scorum platform is that it allows us to be the sports fans that we are. Love the Seattle Mariners but also the Dallas Stars -- like myself -- well, cover em both.
While we all have teams that we are nearly spiritually connected with; Scorum allows us to carry our love of ALL our passions into content creation. I am very much looking forward to touching a number of topics to include MLB, MiLB, NHL and eSports.
To be honest, this community kind of snuck up on me. Given the short time Scorum has been listed as a coin on the crypto market; I wasn't expecting such an open, engaged community. Even after I signed up, I was blindsided.
