It's pretty crazy to think I have only been on Scorum for a little over two weeks. So far this has been a more than incredible opportunity to join a community full of great people, potential, and talent. When I first came here I have to admit I felt a bit overwhelmed. I didn't know if I was going to be able to put out as good of quality posts as everyone else, if I was going to get the support I needed, or just not knowing where to start. Luckily, I had met some great people within the first couple days. I was able to talk with them and had them give me that encouraging push in the right direction. For that I am extremely grateful. So if you're new here like I am, I hope I can give you a couple tips and good advice going forward to make your experience here on Scorum as smooth and productive as possible. From one newbie to another, welcome to Scorum!
Don't rush your progress
It's easy to sign up to a community like this and expect to be immediately making what some other users that have been posting for a while are making. However, you shouldn't come here and immediately get discouraged if your posts aren't instantly making what you think they should be. Take your time getting to know what works. Rome wasn't built in a day and you should always keep pushing on. The posts that you're seeing that are doing extremely well come from users that have worked hard and built their way to earning what they do. No one starts from the top. Work hard and give it time. Good things come to those who wait.
Never ever plagiarize
Under no circumstances whatsoever should you ever be copying someone else's work from here or on the web. Whether or not you think you'll get caught, it's wrong, distasteful, and extremely frowned upon. It is not tolerated by anyone in the community. You will not only be flagged so you can't receive your payout, but you'll end up losing the trust of anyone in the future that might have been willing to help you if you're having a hard time. In fact, there is a discord community here made just for people who plagiarize called I am Scorum run by @rougebot. Himself and others will eventually find out if you're being dishonest and the post will be flagged. It's not worth it. Ask for help if you need it. If there is an issue with trying to post in something other than your native language, the best advice I can give you is try finding someone to help proof read your post. If that is not possible, post in your native language. Bottom line is you'll get more help and better feedback if you are being truthful. Everyone makes mistakes, but if you are deliberately being deceitful, you are not going to be successful here.
Don't just focus on the money. Engage with other members!
If you're here with the mentality of a get rich quick scheme, you're going to be disappointed. Can you make money here? Absolutely, but making that the only priority while you're here is not going to allow you to have an enjoyable experience. Become part of the community and see what it has to offer. There are some really great people here. Make some friends. Share some ideas. Find something in common. It definitely doesn't hurt to get to know others in the community and surround yourself with great talent. Who knows, you may even learn something about a sport you thought you weren't interested in from someone else's posts. Make the most of being here. Then you'll be spending your time having fun rather than just trying to make a quick buck. It's the same as the real world. If you enjoy the work you do, it's not work. If you go in hating it, but force yourself to do it because you just want to make money then it's not going to be satisfying and you'll be let down more times than not. Come into telegram or discord and say hello. I'm sure i'll be somewhere in there.
Be courteous
Kindness goes a long way and on this platform that can be in a number of ways. For example, be kind to the other members here. This should go without saying. We're all adults and we should be treating each other with respect. Don't be a troll. If you don't like or aren't interested in what someone is writing about, move on to something you are interested in. You can also be kind by making sure to upvote the articles you do like. The best way to keep a community growing is to support one another. If you're only upvoting your posts and comments, you're only supporting yourself. As a new member, you'll only have so much voting power so don't waste it. This leads me to another point. Do not spam other members comment sections asking for a follow for follow and/or an upvote! Not only will you not get the response you're looking for, but it's extremely rude and it's not the way to go about growing your following here. If you write good posts and engage, you won't find it necessary to do that. Also, if you're worried about running out of voting power, here's a tip I can offer. You can still engage even if you can't upvote someone. Leave a great comment on someone's post. No one is going to criticize you for it and a well thought out comment shows you're taking the time to read what they spent time writing.
Write what you're passionate about
You will find a variety of categories on Scorum that you can write about. However, I've seen a few posts where I could almost guarantee the person that was writing had no idea what they were talking about. That leads to a few lines and a giant picture that makes up the post. Write quality posts, something that you enjoy watching or doing. You'll find it a lot easier to come here and empty your thoughts if you do. Don't just randomly pick a category, look it up on google, and throw together a five minute post because it shows. These kind of posts will not only earn you low, if any money, but you could get flagged for garbage posting. Take the time and do the work. If you love what you're writing about then it shouldn't seem like a daunting task to write something good. If you're worried about getting as many posts out as possible, remember quality not quantity. A bunch of low grade, rushed, and thrown together posts will earn much less than fewer posts that are interesting and high quality.
Just be you!
This community is the most welcoming, friendly, and supportive places I have come to know. Come here, have a good time, and most important of all just be yourself. You're not here to prove you are better than anyone. You're here to share your creativity and love for what you are interested in and be apart of something great. You do not have to act like someone you're not to be successful here. Come as you are and engage. Be friendly, support others, and you'll see that's more than enough. Remember, if you run into problems and need help there are ways of reaching out. I know I definitely did not cover everything, but I'll be happy to answer as best I can any questions you have. Pop into discord and say hello! Just look for kristyyd!
I wish all of you an awesome journey here at Scorum!
Thanks for reading! See you soon!
