The history of these games began when the International Olympic Committee (IOC) accepted the proposal of the then "Mexican Olympic Society", chaired by Alfredo Cuellar and Enrique Aguirre, which received in July 1924, the official record multi-sport competitions, which brings together 32 countries of Central America and the Caribbean.

The first celebration was in 1926, with Mexico being the venue and since then they are held every 4 years, the best athletes in the region come together for these competitions, with a view to preparing for the Olympic Games (next 2020).

This is the second time in which Colombia is host, the first was in 1978, Medellín being the main venue, in this edition corresponds to Barranquilla, although some disciplines will be carried out in Cali and Bogotá for the facilities required for the performance from the same.

In the link you can see better.

We will see what surprises we will have, what future promises are shown in the different activities that will be quite interesting, since the competitive level has been increasing in recent years.

By the way, the mascot is a representation of a "titi cabeciblanco or head of cotton" a kind of primate that is even in danger of extinction and that was used just for that reason, to raise awareness. He is very nice: his name is "Baqui":
