It's hard to believe that it was only one month ago when I joined Scorum. As a passionate sports fan and writer, joining the new sports media platform on the blockchain sounded like a potentially once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share my thoughts on and love for sports, meet new people, and earn a few coins. I tempered my expectations, knowing that many cryptocurrency projects are not necessarily worth the time and effort they require, and I dove right in.

As we near the end of July, I decided to reflect a little on my first month here.

The Results

The results that matter cannot be measured by coins or followers, as I have gained a lot more from my short time here on Scorum outside of SCR. I have formed many new relationships, I feel a sense of belonging to a growing community, and have improved my craft as a writer. It's hard to put a monetary value on that!

While there are plenty of users here who have achieved better results than I have, and I am perfectly fine with that, I feel very fortunate to be in the position I'm in here, and I have all of you to thank. Here are some stats from my first month:

  • Followers: 206
  • Follows: 121
  • Posts Published: 51
  • Scorum Power Earned (Estimated): 4,500 (3,422 have been awarded so far)
  • Scorum Power Per Article: 88.24
  • Highest Earning Post: 282.62 (Introduction post)

Opinions

As many of you know, I haven't only been posting my own articles here on Scorum. I've really tried to learn, connect, grow along with other users and the platform itself, and support fellow writers. I'm a member of six Scorum Telegram channels, four Discord channels, and have had many conversations with members of the Scorum team. I've also read the white paper and have asked a lot of questions to better understand what the platform is today, how the team is working to improve it, and what the future of Scorum looks like.

What I've learned has mostly been positive. What I know for sure is that there is a community dedicated to growing Scorum, and they remain very excited and optimistic in terms of what is happening here. From the soon-to-be-released betting platform, to advertising revenue, to the early-stage daily fantasy sports platform, there is a lot to like about Scorum.

What I like more than the current state of Scorum is their team. Out of the 200+ projects I follow on Telegram, the Scorum team has been the most responsive and most open team I've interacted with at all levels of the company. They provide regular updates (unlike other crypto platforms...Steemit) to the community and they are constantly updating the platform. Since I've started here the platform has drastiacally changed for the better, and I know that there are many additional changes on their way (like posting our newest blog at the top of our profile and allowing us to see posts from those we follow in a feed).

There are, however, early investors who appear to be angry with where the price of the coin is at and the fact that SCR is currently only traded on Open Ledger. First, I want to say thank you for making this platform possible. Without your investment we would not have this place to call home. And while I did not know about this project that early and I haven't yet invested my own money in SCR, just a lot of time and effort, my advice for all of us is to be patient. What Scorum is building is not something that happens over night. Was Steem worth hundreds of millions in the first couple of months? No. In fact, the price went down 70% two months after it debuted before beginning to rise. There is plenty of growth left ahead of us, and those who jump off the boat now will miss future opportunities.

Outlook

We are now over 8,000 registered users with big updates on the way, not to mention a gigantic airdrop that will increase our amount of Scorum Power. The team is responsive and capable, the community is mostly positive and supportive, and the rewards are attractive. What's not to like?

I am very bullish on the future of Scorum (not investment advice) and look forward to being a part of this community for years to come.

Thank You's

I wanted to take a few minutes to thank all of you, and several of you individually. I would not have a single SCR or SP coin without your support, and I am working hard to pay this support back to the community through whatever ways possible.

This is not a comprehensive list by any means, so if you have helped and supported me here on Scorum (which so many of you have) and you are not on this list, I sincerely apologize. Here are a few people who have made a big difference on my Scorum experience.

  • @lawlees: I will never forget who first told me about Scorum and who took time to explain the value in joining. I also got a lot of help and support from other Steemit Betting Community members including @fullcoverbetting, @costanza, and others.
  • The Scorum team: I have been impressed with the Scorum team and have received a lot of help from their staff, from community managers to marketers to the CEO @Vladart.
  • @thebull: My friend from Steemit and the Steem Poker League who I helped convince to join Scorum. You've supported me the whole way and I look forward to competing against you in a handicapping challenge here on Scorum during the NFL season.
  • @stimp1024: From helping me find a new EPL team to root for (Go West Ham! P.S. I ordered my first shirt yesterday and have been watching the preseason games on YouTube) to showing me a ton of support on my posts, thank you!
  • @kennybll: One of the first few people I met once I started here. Kenny is a young developer who has given us a notification bot, several contests, and an external wallet. He's also a Scorum witness, and a great part of this community.
  • @bamamama: Few people are as sweet and supportive as @bamamama, who is as kind as she is good at covering college football and blogging about sports. She's made me feel very welcome here.
  • @pete: The writer I've looked up to most since joining, @pete has helped us establish general etiquette rules, has been a model Scorum writer since the beginning, and so much more.
  • @nhl: Few care about the platform as much as @nhl, who encouraged me my first day to join his Telegram group and I'm very glad I did. He is almost always the first person to respond to a question about the platform and a great user to know.
  • @liuke96player: A great curator who supports the whole community, and a better writer than he gives himself credit for.
  • @izge: Great community member and great writer who is supportive of all.
  • @brandonk: We have a love-hate relationship, but I'm glad we're both here and that you're supportive of others who are trying their best to make Scorum a better place.

Thank you all! If you are new to Scorum, welcome, anything and more than what I have achieved is possible. Just try your best and don't give up!
