Many have come to this community as writers in other platforms before now while many are still learning the rope of writing especially when it comes to sporting activities. No matter which part you find yourself, you just have to get acquainted with sport so long as this platform exists.
Getting to know about scorum through a citizen turned friend exposed me to another world of blockchain similar to steemit but this time basically sport. Many will attest that finding your feet as a newbie on community and getting the attention required is never going to be an easy task. One need the hands of a guidance and well as benevolent whales and curators to be encourage to write more which the community has provided t many across board through contest, regular upvotes and recommendations.
Starting my journey here was never easy and has never been easier. However, there are people who have been of help all through and I am going to pick out one of the many who has contributed to this. May be I will make out time for others as well like the ‘’Helping Hands’’ and ‘’Hall of fame’’. Freaky Friday contest was introduced 4 months ago before I got into the community with this picture below.
The first contest I think that I met on ground when I registered was the ‘’Freaky Friday Contest’’ organised by @pete and other sponsors he attracted to the contest in his bid to offer a helping hands, encouragement to new writers in the community as well for some older members. there have been quite a whole lot of freaky Friday contest that have followed.
My first contest was pretty not qualified to enter into the contest of that week due to not listing of the link to the contest and few other things that was pointed out to me. I had to contact one of the contestants in @austino who put me through some regulations about the contest.
The contest got me a lot of attention to start with even though I wasn’t winning the contest because there are a whole lot of excellent writers in the community like @Ablaze who was on the winning list week in week out. This was a pretty fair challenge to me to be on that list as I started to put in more effort to my skill as well as learning many things about other contestant that were lacking in my write up.
On so few occasions I got disappointed to see lot of better post out there wishing it was mine but I kept on improving myself believing I will be on the list of the judges some day.
After weeks of entering the contest, I was adjudged the winner of freaky Friday with my post '' On freaky friday I had my first kiss'' I was very happy not because I won but that am on the post of a whale in the community. That gave me a lot of attention as I began to receive recommendations for upvote for newbies that needs to be encouraged. That was how I got on the list of @Tales through his Helping hands via girol nomination and sure I can say I didn’t disappoint him.
Henceforth, I got the spirit to write on freaky Friday when I wanted to give up and I have been privileged to win a couple of freaky Friday contest of which the last was last two weeks worth 88SCR on ‘’Freaky Friday I became an animal write activist’’ it was a contest dedicated for Bull fight as being practiced in some countries.
Freaky Friday no doubt has been very rewarding both to the winners but especially the contestants who receive 100% upvotes from @pete for every contest entered as well as upvotes on comments made on the post. Though I didn’t do statistics of the cash reward given out but I can say that freaky Friday contest has given away over 1200 SCR to winners as upvotes worth over half of that figures since I joined the contest. This no doubt contributes to my attending the pro badge the sooner that I did.
Over all, I will say freaky Friday is the contest that have stood the test of time in scorum community and will appeal to boss of the contest @pete to keep up with the good works he is doing for the communities even though there might be some challenges on his part as well.
This article cannot be complete without mention another community member who we all know too well that have been very supportive of the contest in the person of @pete’s better half in @banamama. She never fails to give her upvotes to contestants and best wishes.
So, I can say freaky Friday came, saw and conquered. We hope this contest will come to be a much sought after competition in scorum community in some months time and the community grows.
To all the newbies,I say its never going to be easy breaking into the contest on a first entry accept you are such good blogger but if not, try to be patient, learn from others and improve yourself. Surely, one day you are going to be on that winner’s list.
