One of the greatst fear of anyone on a platform like this is languishing in Obscurity. It is a very frustrating thought that even makes content creation hard, because you will be like.

Why bother

When I started off blogging last year on Steemit, I had that notion that no one cares about my content. When writing a post, I was not even sure that it will get read.

And this was because of the amount of people already making post by the second. I felt like I was swimming in a sea of black and white while wearing a tux.

However with time, I came to learn some principles that helped shaped my blogging career and enabled me build a blog which was rated among the top 4% on Steemit by a Curator.

So I ask you

What makes you different from other thousands of bloggers on Scorum ?

Everyone seems to be doing the same thing, writing posts, promoting them on both Whatsapp groups and Discord servers with the hope of scoring a big reward. Praying daily that the Scorum Whales will smile upon them.

But it seems nobody cares. You make a post, go offline come back after a few hours and see $0. You then go on a rant on how the Scorum community does not support users and on how the reward pool is centralized.

Well that's one of your problem. You write posts and leave without engaging with the community. How then will people know that you exist ?

I have come here to list today the Four Cardinal Sins of Blogging on Platforms like Scorum. You can check whether any of your Sins is listed.

Begging For Followers/Upvotes

There is and experience that made me believe that someone will likely commit this Sin on this post. In my last post on begging for followers on Steemit. Someone actually came to the comment section and wrote :

Nice Post, I Followed You, Please Follow me back

I don't think that there is nothing as annoying to a content creator as someone who makes generic comments without bothering to read the post.

This is counter-productive in all ways because the probabilty of you getting flagged will be high and also followers you get in this way will rarely engage with your post or give you votes.

If you build your blog with transactional relationships all your followers will just be Statistics sitting on your blog, your level of post engagement will greatly fall short in comparison to the number of followers you have.

Badly Formatted Post

If you have been observant of my content you will realize that I write with very short paragraphs. My paragraphs are always two to three sentences long. This makes it easier for people to read your post.

Clustered content hurts the eye and people are more likely to skim the post instead of reading it to know what it is really about. Badly formatted post are magnets for generic comments like Great/Nice Post.

If you want to increase the level of enagagement, make sure to format your post properly. Make good use of the Markdown kit to format your post and make them look better and appealing to the eye.

Plagiarism/Low Quality Post.

Plagiarism is one of the things that can taint your Image in the online world. A follower of mine on Steemit lost a major job with a blockchain company when they discovered that he was on Steem Cleaners Blacklist.

I have always told people. Your blog is an extension of You. Your voice in the online world. The way your blog is shows the kind of life that you live.

If you are someone that plagiarizes, then you will come across to people as someone who lacks character. It will also imply that you are unserious and lazy.

Creating content is not that hard. Just try to write from what you understand and can relate with. You start struggling when you want to write on things you don't fully understand yet.

You may just find yourself becoming a flag magnet, people like @nhl will not hesitate in bring judgement to Your doorstep.

Complaning.

There are people who will never put in the work to build their brand. They are the ones who are always looking for the easy way out. And when things don't go their way they fall back to complaning.

They are the ones who will constantly write post and comments outlining the flaws of the platform and how it is biased and unfair.

The truth is that nothing built by Humans would never be 100% perfect, there will still be an element of imperfection in it. So if you really want to build a solid personal brand then make all the advantages work for you.

I am not saying that we should not speak up when things are going wrong, what I am saying is that you should not let those things discourage You from making an Impact.

You can point out flaws and make suggested corrections, but don't become known as the Complainer guy.

I hope that this post will be able to convince you of the need to build your personal brand the right way. You will be happy you did.
