The Scorum community is growing at a steady rate at the moment. Over time, additional features of the platform will entice a larger demographic to sign up but for now, the onus is on us as platform users and investors to nurture the site as best we can.

There are a couple of primary reasons why most of us joined the platform initially:

  1. A love of sports.
  2. The desire to generate profit.

For me, it's a combination of both. I've loved watching and discussing a number of sports for a long time and I'm also a cryptocurrency investor and trader so this platform fits like a glove. With that in mind, it's in all of our interests to see Scorum grow over the next few years. Firstly, the more users there are on the platform, the more sports discussions there are to be enjoyed. Secondly, increased competition for SCR rewards leads to greater profits. It's a simple case of supply and demand.

I've been thinking over the last few days about the ways in which I can play my part in the growth of Scorum and I've created a list that I believe applies to all of us. If we all do our bit then the platform could soon become one of the most popular places to discuss sports. Sounds good to me.

#1. Family and Friends

The easiest way to increase numbers on the platform is through word of mouth. Imagine how quickly the userbase would grow if everyone who signed up for an account brought another person along with them.

I'm going to invite a couple of friends of mine who enjoy sports to sign up. It will be a great way to get them involved in something exciting and will increase content on the platform which in turn will help Scorum to rank for more keywords.

Also, this is a great way to help your friends and family out financially. Once rewards are split and can be traded freely as soon as they're redeemed, we'll all be able to earn a monthly income from doing something we love. For the best content creators around, this could quickly become a massive source of profit. A great selling point is that they'd be early adopters of the platform and would have a great opportunity to bank some valuable SP while there is less competition for rewards.

#2. Social Media

A great way to spread the word about the platform indirectly is to share links to Scorum articles on your social media accounts. These links could be to your content or an article posted by another user that you find interesting.

If someone is interested in the topic and clicks on the link then they'll be taken to Scorum without you even having to tell them about how amazing it is. You'll often find that if people are here, they'll have a look around and could well be tempted to sign up for an account themselves.

If you're followed by people who are interested in cryptocurrency or sports then you could be a little more direct and tell them about the benefits of using the Scorum platform. An example here could be to create a post about Scorum over at Steemit. As there are people over there who are familiar with this kind of platform, you may find that a lot are eager to check Scorum out.

#3. Content is King

Although word of mouth is a wonderful thing, content is always king and there are a couple of reasons for this. Firstly, the quality of content on the platform is what makes people want to sign up and keeps them coming back. It's important to try to post top quality content as much as possible. That's not to say that every post needs to be a 10,000 words thesis, but we should set the standard as high as we can. Try to add something to the platform that you may not find elsewhere. We should also look to eradicate any undesirable content such as plagiarism, spam, scams, and low-quality reward begging posts and comments. Let's make sure that content is sourced correctly when appropriate, written to the best of our ability and is attractive to the reader. Images go a long way to breaking up large walls of text.

Secondly, posts should ideally be written in a way that will help them to be found via Google searches. Taking the time to quickly learn about Search Engine Optimisation will really help to make your posts rank well over time. Think of yourself as someone who is laying the foundations of the Scorum platform. In order for Scorum to grow to its true potential, it requires a sturdy set of content to act as the foundation. Not only will this help to attract new users, but it will also lead to more people discovering the platform indirectly. Organic growth is key.

#4. Share the Love

It's easy to fall into the habit of upvoting the same couple of people on a daily basis. Although it's great to make friends on the platform, don't forget to show love to other people too. Vote Power is not limitless so you do need to pace yourself, but once you're pro (holding over 1,000 SP), you can upvote with lesser percentages which will allow you to share your upvotes with a greater number of people without depleting your VP as quickly.

One of the most discouraging things about joining a platform like Scorum is the feeling of being unnoticed. Newcomers can write great content but don't have the connections instantly to receive regular upvotes. If they've spent a lot of time creating content that earns absolutely nothing then they're unlikely to stick around for long. Let's keep looking out for content from new users that deserves some rewards and do our best to make them feel valued here. You never know, that individual may eventually bring another few people to the platform. It's worth the time.

#5. Interact

The beauty of Scorum is that it grants us a space to discuss sports with each other. The comment sections of articles are often more valuable than the post itself because it allows for discussions to develop naturally over time. It's encouraging to know that someone read your post and wants to talk to you about it. As with point 4, this is especially true of newer users. Just knowing that other people have noticed you on the platform is a wonderful feeling. In my opinion, the best users on Scorum spend more time writing comments than they do posts. If there is an active community here then people will want to sign up to join in.

Something that's important to note here, however, is that comments should be good quality. You can afford to be more casual in the comment section than you perhaps would in a post but there should be no room for upvote begging or spam. If you're going to comment on someone's post then make sure you've actually read it first and then bring something worthwhile to the discussion. Comments will also be ranked by search engines so will play a big role in getting the Scorum name out there. Don't forget, you can also earn rewards from comments so this is a great place for newcomers to get themselves noticed and earn some SCR along the way.

If you have any other ideas then I'd love to hear about them in the comment section below. Thanks for reading!
