Hey Scorum Community! Satoshi here again and today I’ll be talking about SCR and SP distribution. I’ve seen that there is some confusion and misinformation out there, so I thought that I’d elucidate some things and inform others of what I’ve learned.

First I’ll talk about the initial SCR and SP distribution from the crowdsale and then I will talk about the daily change of SCR and SP. From the data, we will see that everyday, more and more SCR is being converted into SP. In the last day or so there has been a major move of 300,000 SCR into SP.

Plot 1 - Created by @satoshi

Plot 1 shows the the initial distribution of the total 30 million tokens. 10 million starts as SP tokens and the other 20 millions starts as SCR tokens. The SCR can be converted into SP at any time, whereas SP can only be converted into SCR after advertising is implemented onto the Scorum platform at which point, it will still take 12 months for the conversion to take place.

SP Distribution

Of the initial 10 million SP, those are distributed as follows:

  1. Vote/Comment Bonus : 3,840,000
  2. Founders of Scorum: 3,000,000 - Reserved for the founders
  3. Registration Bonus: 2,100,000 - This is SP designated for any new users on the platform. When you register, you start with 5 SP. That SP comes from this pool. As of this writing, there are 8500 users which means approximately (8500 x 5) or 42,000 SP has been used from the pool of 2.1 million SP.
  4. Witnesses: 480,000 - This is SP designated for witnesses who sign the blocks that get added to the SCR blockchain.
  5. Active SP holders: 480,000 - Designated for users with a VP lower than 100
  6. Steemit Users: 100,000 - Those who held Steem received an airdrop.

SCR Distribution

Of the initial 20 million SP, those are distributed as follows.

  1. SCR Sold during crowdsale: 7,230,000 - Total amount of SCR that was sold during the crowdsale.
  2. SCR Unsold during crowdsale: 11,370,000 - These unsold SCR will be converted to SP then back to SCR and will be sold and used for developing the Scorum platform.
  3. Affiliate Program: 930,000 - If you referred anyone during the crowdsale you get some SCR from this pool. Any leftover SCR will be burned.
  4. Scorum Team Bonus: 470,000 - These SCR will be distributed to Scorum team members.

The whitepaper goes into more specifics about each distribution, so I’d encourage you to read it here. What’s important is seeing visually how it is distributed in Plot 1.

Plot 2 - Created by @satoshi

In Plot 2, this shows the distribution by percentage. Based on the values from Plot 1, I categorized Plot 2 into two major categories.

  1. Purple Colors - The purple colors represent SCR/SP tokens that are designated/controlled by Scorum. These total approximately 49.6% percent of the total 30 million tokens.
  2. Green Colors - The green colors represent SCR/SP tokens that are designated for or controlled by the Scorum community. These total roughly 50.4% percent of the total 30 million tokens.

Plot 3 - Created by @Satoshi

Now that we know the various distributions, we can see how SCR and SP have moved over the past two weeks. As of this writing, there is approximately 3.89 million SCR and 3.95 million SP in circulation.

In Plot 3, I tracked the total SCR and total SP over the course of two weeks. From this we can see SCR making a steady decline while SP made an even steeper increase over this time period. Within the past day however, we can see a huge increase of SP converted into SCR. We will see later in Plot 4 and Plot 5 the exact values. As of yesterday, July 26th, Plot 3 shows that SP has surpassed the amount of SCR in circulation.

Plot 4 - Created by @satoshi

Plot 4 shows the daily change in SCR and SP before the huge jump on July 26th. From the plot, we can see that SP is increasing a lot more than SCR is decreasing. This suggests that not only are more and more people converting their SCR into SP, but more SP is being brought into circulation from the various pools outlined in Plot 1, in the form of vote/comment bonuses, registration bonuses, active SP bonuses, etc.

Plot 5 - Created by @satoshi

Next, with Plot 5, I have included July 26th’s big transfer. Because SCR’s decrease matches SP’s increase, this suggests that someone has transferred their large holdings of 300,000+ SCR into SP. This conversion completely dwarfs anything else that has occurred over these past two weeks.

Plot 6 - created by @satoshi
Finally, we have Plot 6, which shows the SP and SCR’s totals over the last two weeks. From this we can see a nice steady uptrend. On average, the amount of tokens entering circulation has increased around 7700 tokens per day for the past two weeks. Two weeks is not a large sample size, but it will be interesting to see how SP and SCR totals change through time.

Final Thoughts

We are still in Scorum’s infancy and we can see that more and more users are converting their SCR into SP. In my eyes, that suggests a decision to be dedicated to the platform for the long-term, because it takes at least 12 months to convert SP back to SCR and that process hasn’t even started yet. Generally speaking, for most individuals of the community, it is more beneficial to convert SCR to SP so that voting will inject more SP into the community. As long as SP levels increase, the Scorum platform will grow and flourish.
