I don't even know why I decided to come up with this post. Maybe because of the love I have for this great platform. I like Scorum and I knew right from the day I came across it that it has great potentials. Shortly after I became a member I can confidently say that I have contributed to the growth of this platform without receiving applaud from anyone
Now, let's forget about my little contribution on Scorum and face the real issues on ground.
Shortly after the launch of the blogging platform, we had a large number of logins and it seemed like we were going to hit 100k members before December last year until things were south and we started having declined sign ups, and after that comes many abandoned and inactive accounts. In fact, I can't even remember the last time I saw an introductory post of a new member
However, user interactions, participation and activeness have greatly reduced and if you check the trending page, you will discover that it only belongs to about 5 people or thereabouts compared to what it used to be, and the question I ask myself is "does it mean that the blogging platform is close to its death?
You and I know that it's becoming difficult to draw people to the platform unlike before. While some attribute it to the bear market, some actually attribute it lack of top exchanges listing.
The team must have been so busy with the project development that they went into silent mode for some time until Vlad gave us an update few days ago. To be frank, I wasn't really impressed with the content of the updates which spells out the plans the team have for the betting platform and the zero plans they have for the blogging platform
Well, I only know little about cryptocurrency and I know the team have more enlightened minds in the crypto world, but in my own little opinions, this is where I think could be getting it wrong.
- Lack of support for community initiatives
One of the things that should keep a platform like this moving forward is the presence of community initiatives, which has been lacking since inception. Most communities on Scorum don't survive due to lack of support and acknowledgement by the team. We only hear about a new community today and after some time they go into oblivion and then another community is up again.
If you check a platform like Steemit, community initiates contributed immensely to the growth of the platform. We had the likes of Utopian, Steemhunt, Minnowbooster etc. Looking at the structure of Scorum, we need it even more than steemit because it will increase user interactions which will be healthy for the betting platform but sadly nearly every community is crawling probably because the team doesn't give a damn about them
2. Little concern for SP holders
I have never heard the team talk about those whose SCR has been trapped in their wallets since ICO. Now let's ask ourselves, "how long will investors continue to have their SCR locked in as SP for 52 weeks? Or let's assume you introduce people to Scorum, how do you convince them to wait for a year before they can have their investment back? Can you now see it takes someone who is already financially stable to lock their investments somewhere for 12 solid months?. This is really a major concern that nobody seems to be saying anything about.
3. Everybody is not a gambler
Of course I agree with the team that the betting platform will bring more liquidity to SCR and it's a very good idea striking a deal with Sportradar but completely ditching the blogging platform for the betting platform is not a good idea to me.
This is because not everyone is a gambler on Scorum. Some people just want to blog and earn SCR but it's quite unfortunate that the team is making it look like "hey! we only care about gamblers and not bloggers". The blogging platform has not been growing as it should ever since the team have been making it too obvious that they care less about it.
4. Blogging and betting platform should work hand in hand
If people lose their bet, they fall back to the blogging platform to earn SCR on their posts. This is the way it's supposed to be, but imagine a situation when someone loses the SCR he bought on a bet, do you expect him to go and buy another SCR for betting? No it's not as easy as that. He goes back to the logging platform to recover his loss, can you now see that the blogging and betting platform are like a twin, so you can't just ditch one for the other.
As a member of this great platform I want to see going to high places and I felt I should air my opinions about the situation of Scorum.
I could be right or wrong in some areas and I'm humble for corrections
What do you guys think?
