On Freaky Friday, I Went Goose Hunting For The First Time In Forever.
This is my article for the freaky Friday weekly contest, just in case you are new to Scorum, freaky Friday is one the contest organised by Pete. the importance of participating in this contest can no be over emphasized. participating in this contest will completely change the way you think, so if you haven't been a part of this great contest, i will advice you to give it a try!. you can find the link to the contest here: https://scorum.com/en-us/shooting/@pete/welcome-to-freaky-friday-december-14-2018. Firstly, I want to say RIP to Michael Jackson, sorry its coming late just that I didn’t have a phone when you died. You were such a great footballer, the entire FIFA is going to miss you LOL! ( that was just to get your attention, now that i have it, let's begin) Growing up as a kid wasn’t really quit adventurous as I wanted. My Dad was a bank manager and my Mom was a nurse. I always wanted to do something crazy with my life, like jumping into a casino from a 3 story building with a Ferrari, or sky diving without a parachute. Sounds crazy right? Yeah that’s the extent of craziness. I never wanted to be that guy wearing Armani suites and driving a BMW. All I wanted was some cowboys boot and a V12 engine power bike to voyage the world. I never really had much friends here in New Orleans. My best friend Pete got admitted into Oxford University so we get to meet only on holidays. It was Sunday and I’ve long awaited the big match between my favorite team Manchester united against Liverpool, immediately I got back from church service, I put ON the television and the match was just about to begin. Perfect timing I said to myself. The game started and my team were playing below expectation, initially, my team was losing one Nil to the opposition, and the comeback goal left me completely ecstatic, I knew there was a lot of football left to be played in this game, so I quickly went to the kitchen to get a bowl of popcorn I ran back in a blitz as if I was being chased by Usain Bolt so as not to miss any moment of this exciting game. The game was On but I wasn’t quite impressed with the was my team was playing. The game was driving me crazy but all I had to do was to put on my belt of hope. The game ended (3-1) with my team losing. With so much frustration, I went straight to my room leaving the bowl of popcorn and my Monster Energy drink behind. The anger In me at this point is enough to sink the TITANIC over and over again. I decided to play a motivational song on my phone, it was then I truly realized that “when you are happy you enjoy a song but when you are sad, you understand its lyrics”. A couple of minutes later, I heard a knock on my door, at first I thought I was mare hallucination, then I heard the knock again. When I opened the door, it was my dad. My Dad: how are you doing son? Me: I’m good dad just finished watching the match. MY Dad: how did it go? Me: all good dad. My dad: Sam I came to tell you we will be moving to Louisiana. I was transferred there. At this point I was dumbfounded, I had that same feelings 2PAC had when he was shot 5 times. I told my Dad I needed some time to come to grip with self. At this point, my frustration was at its peak. After eating myself up for a couple of hours, then I said to myself ‘’ you don’t know the value of what you have until you lose it, at the same time you don’t know what you’ve been missing until you get it”. So I made up my mind to go with my parent to Louisiana. A couple of days later, we got our stuffs ready and we hit the road. We got to Louisiana successfully and we were all tired to the death. So I feel asleep on the couch. The following morning I decided to go jogging as always, I got my headset on and jumped into my Air max canvas. On my way, I saw a wallet on the floor so I picked it up, on getting home, I opened the wallet to check for any address or so, I found a key, some few bucks and a complimentary card. There was a phone number on the complimentary card so I dialed the number. Me; hello there I’m Sam I found your wallet on the floor while jogging this morning OWNER: hello Sam I’m Steve, the wallet must slept off my pocket, you are so kind. So I texted him my address then a couple of hours later he came over to my place to collect he’s wallet. He thanked me as asked if we could be friends without any hesitation i replied "yes of course the world is a small place and you never can tell when you might need a friend", he also asked if I would be chance to come over to he’s place by weekend. I nodded my head repeatedly, he thanked me and gave me he’s home address. At this point I was feeling like a kid who woke up and found himself in a room full of chocolate. I was so ecstatic and couldn’t wait for weekend to come, when the weekend finally came, I hurried to he’s place, when I got there I met Steve outside with he’s dad, he introduced me to he’s dad. And the dad thanked me for returning Steve’s wallet. They were about going GOOSE hunting and Steve asked me to join them, Steve handed me a hunting Gun. at this point, I stared feeling like Bruce Willis, finally i can get to live the adventurous life i always wanted. The hunting zone was the Slade northwest River, at first I was a little scared cos I’m not a good swimmer. Steve entered the river and I was a couple of steps behind him, the river wasn’t too deep, it slightly went above my waist, our movement was stealth so as not to scare the goose away, I brought out my cracker to have bite as I was enjoying every bit of this adventure. I quickly took out my phone to take a picture of Steve standing in the river, cos I needed a souvenir for this adventure. To my greatest surprised here comes the first 5 Geese, Steve took them out, and I immediately ran to gram them and put them in the hunting bag. there's a special whistle we blew to make the geese think it was another goose coming. a couple of minutes later, another set of geese were in sight so steve asked me to go for the shot. i did but i missed. steve's dad instructed me to focus like an eagle trying to capture the movement of its prey and also to take a deep breath and hold my breath before taking a shot. after a couple of attempt, i was able to shoot down 2 geese! not bad for a start i said to myself. after the day's hunting, we took the geese home and made some delicious meal with them. This was the best day of my life as far am i'm concerned. I went home that day feeling like Manchester United Won the EPL, LALIGA, SERIA A and even World cup! i couldn't wait for next weekend, maybe this time we would be going for Tiger hunting LOL!. A VERY BIG THANK YOU FOR TAKING YOUR TIME TO READ.
