A great exam, if it is addressed with an open mind and a spacious soul, can ignite a spirit of struggle that is not easy to quell. And that was the spirit that a boy named Qian Hongyan was fighting.
We sometimes need to learn from a child. If we remember again, enthusiasm as children is very strong to hit all obstacles and challenges. One real example is when we learn to walk. Even though it fell many times, as a child we must continue to work until it really works as it is now. And, it is this boy-like spirit that might-be able to become a "flame of fire" that continues to burn in the dark and hard test for a person teenager from China, Qian Hongyan.
The exam that hit Qian was very heavy. How not, at the age of still very early-three years (precisely in October 2000) -he had a fatal accident that resulted in half of his body to the waistline to be amputated.This condition was made worse by the economic situation of Qian's parents who were not well-off. Therefore, the family of the little girl who lived in Zhuangxia, China was unable to provide fake legs for Qian.
Instead, the family supported Qian's body with a basketball cut. A solution that is far from being comfortable, like other fake legs. However, despite growing with limitations, Qian proved that the world was not yet finished for him. He grew into a cheerful and smiling girl — as if nothing had happened in him. Reflecting a basketball at the bottom of his body, and assisted by a supporter to help him move, Qian could still be an agile boy like most normal children.
Preparing for the World ...
With a shortage in his body, Qian never gave up hope, even though he didn't know how his future would be and how he could change his life with his current condition. Until, one day he came to a national sports competition held in Kunming in May 2007. There, the seeds that grew his ideals grew.
At that time, Qian every day witnessed the struggle of several disabled athletes who had enlivened the match. Seeing the struggle of a disabled fellow, fellow Qian's heart was moved. If someone else is able to excel in the field of sports even with a disabled body, why doesn't he do the same thing? That thought exploded Qian Hongyan's aspiration to become an athlete. Then, after the national sport, Qian's determination was immediately realized by joining a special swimming club.
That determination was fully supported by Qian's parents. So, they went to Zhang Honghu, a coach who was famous for making defective swimmers as champions in the swimming championship. Qian asked Zhang the opportunity to be trained to become a champion.
Zhang, who is known as a cold-handed coach, only said that it all depends on Qian's will and determination. Because, according to him, with a lack of half of the body he did not have, it was rather difficult for Qian to swim by relying only on his arms. However, Qian's determination was very strong and apparently managed to lure Zhang. So, he also gave Qian a special exercise portion so that he could better balance both his shoulders and arms.
Zhang's belief was answered with Qian's sincerity. With a portion of the training quite heavy, especially with the difficulties experienced from the beginning of the practice, Qian never once complained. For him, the dream of being an athlete is an ideal that cannot be extinguished. Within a day, at least a distance of 2000 meters was taken by Qian in the water arena to train his muscles.
In addition, other exercises such as sit-ups, lifting weights, to various types of exercises are done with enthusiasm. This is what makes Qian now known throughout China and even the world.
His life story and strong determination inspired many people to be able to break all limitations. Qian's story was widely published in various media, both print and online, which raised his name. Now, he wants to be global with his efforts to represent China in 2012 in the special Olympic swimming championships for disabled people. Unmitigated, Qian set the target of becoming a world champion swimming at the Olympic championship.
He worked hard to realize his dream. If you see his sincerity and determination, it seems like that dream is not impossible to achieve. Because, in fact seriousness and strong determination based on hard work will be able to conquer all challenges. People with physical limitations such as Qian usually do not get a place in the wider community. They are more often regarded as burdens than hidden potential.
That is why most disabled people tend to be excluded. But instead God presents them in our lives to immerse our 'blindness' of His greatness in using anyone.
In fact, we owe it to those who do not want to surrender to fate, to circumstances and to what many people call fate.
There is no flaw that can extinguish the spirit of life that is still burning for people who never give up .: EVERYONE IS NUMBER ONE.
Yes, everyone is number one! There is no number two! The spirit will never be extinguished by circumstances as long as we still haven't given up !!
