The third day of the 2018 Asian Games swimming pool opened with the creation of a new world record at the GBK Aquatic Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (08/21/2018). Chinese female swimming athlete Liu Xiang managed to sharpen a new world record in the number 50 backstroke.

Liu Xiang recorded a time of 26.98 seconds, surpassing Zhao Jing's world record of 27.06 seconds created at the 2009 World Swimming Championships in Rome, Italy.

Liu won gold, ahead of other Chinese swimmers, Fu Yuanhui, who recorded 27.68 seconds and won silver. While the bronze medal was won by Japanese athlete Sakai Natsumi who scored 27.91 seconds.

Indeed, the championed Fu Yuanhui will dominate this number after on several occasions almost reaching the world record time. Apalgi immediately posted a time record of 27.16 during training earlier this year. However, Liu was the one who managed to register his name on the world record board.
