17-year-old Yankı Erel, who is entitled to participate in the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games to be held in Buenos Aires between October 6-18, will be the first Turkish tennis player to represent our country in games.
As the first Turkish tennis player to win the Wimbledon championship, Erel signed a big success, and in the wake of this victory ITF Junior climbed up to the 16th rank in the world rankings and achieved the highest rank in the class. This rise in the world class has opened the Olympic gate for young tennis players.
Yankı was the first Turkish tennis player to reach the last 16 in the young single men in the grand tournament with the third tour he played in the Australian Open, with his performance in all the major tourniquets he played this season. In Roland Garros, the couples had a chance to play quarterfinal in the main table.
In Buenos Aires 2018, 3998 athletes from the age of 15 to 18 will compete for medals in 2018 at the equally number of women's and boys' athletes.
The 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games tennis matches will be played between October 7th and 14th.
