Today we can look forward to a clash of contrasting styles in everyway possible except one 'defense'. Novak Djokovic will take on Rafael Nadal in the semi finals of Wimbledon as I predicted in my article Nadal Won't Face Federer in Final of Wimbledon. Here I talked about how Nadal would fall to Djokovic in the semis and that Novak would go onto beat Federer in the final. Clearly that second part of my prediction is not going to happen as Federer went out in 5 sets to Andersen this week. I did warn of the big chance of Federer not retaining his title though in an earlier article too.

With Federer gone, one of these two exceptionally gifted champions will now win Wimbledon. Both Nadal and Djokovic are always mentioned when people in the tennis world ask 'who has the best defense in the game'. Murray was also touted too but with him being side lined with an on going hip injury the title for this claim lies at the feet of both Djokovic and Nadal. Both couldn't be further apart in terms of how they hit the ball, especially on the forehand but both have the same dogged quality that sees them turn the most impossible of situations to their advantage.

Nadal has been looking formidable and back to his best for over a year now, where as Djokovic has only just started to find his feet at the top again. If this was the French Open Nadal would be the clear favourite but this is grass and Wimbledon. Djokovic will go through today in 4 sets, I am going for a 3-1 win in sets for him.

Nadal defeated Del Potro in the last round in 5 sets showing how susceptible he is on grass to top ten opponents. Coming up against a three time Wimbledon champion who feels at home on grass as much as a hard court he will struggle to keep up with Djokovic who hits the ball much flatter than Nadal on the forehand and can neutralise Nadal's top spin forehand.

Djokovic comfortably beat Nishikori in the last round in 4 sets and will be feeling much fresher than Nadal. Both will know this is a big opportunity for another Wimbledon trophy with the winner facing a weaker Isner or Andersen in the final rather than the king of grass.

No doubt we can expect some some ridiculously long base line rallies and some impossible returns of play from virtually outside the court. Both players do not have heavy service games that rack up the aces as well so expect service games to go slow and be held slow too, especially with both players having excellent returns of serve. So the question for me is whether Novak is ready to claim his 4th Wimbledon crown or not? If he keeps up the form he has been showing at Wimbledon and the accuracy of his ground strokes, there's no doubt he will prevail. But if for some reason he drops his level which can be natural against a player like Nadal in a grand slam, then Nadal could edge it in 5 - I very much doubt this will happen though.

Djokovic leads the head to head contest by 1 match only. He is 26 to Nadal's 25 wins.

Last time they played on grass was at Wimbledon back in the 2011 final at Wimbledon where Djokovic dispatched of Nadal with little effort winning 3-1 in sets (6-4,6-1,1-6,6-3).

Djokovic should be ready to give the same sort of treatment to Nadal today.
