Simona Halep has a guaranteed WTA world No. 1 ranking on the results of the year. The 27-year old player took the lead in the best tennis players table 53 weeks ago and was on top 40 weeks.

I’m honoured to be on top for the second year in a row. This is really something! This season I won the Grand Slam tournament for the first time and I am very proud of it. It was the best year of my life. I work hard on myself every day, I think that’s why I’ve managed to remain in the top 5 for several years. Yes, I’m given greater attention, especially in Romania. I enjoy it, but at the same time, sometimes I want to get some peace and quiet. I try to put up with the fact that something must be always sacrificed for success”, Halep said.
