I have been a big fan of tennis right from my secondary school days and most times have had the opportunity to play athletes in the formal setting at the Abia state indoor sport stadium in Nigeria. Tennis had been a second hobby to me aside football and I do follow most of the ATP whenever I got plenty of time. Andy Murray; tennis legend yesterday shocked the tennis world by breaking the news about his preparation to retire from the sport as this came a bit surprise to many tennis lovers across the globe. This pronouncement just came at the back hill of hip injury that had plagued him out of competition since 2017 after his Wimbledon appearance and since turn had struggled to come back to compete actively with other top class tennis players.
Murray in an emotional press address had insisted that the condition of his injury will determine if he will take part in the Australian Open but will take a bow at the end of the competition. He admitted he could play to certain stage in the competition but it will never be at the level that makes him happy. He was making this release ahead of the Australian opening on Monday as he shaded tears, informing everyone he felt disappointed and had to go back door to get himself calmed down before he continued the conference.
'' I'm not feeling good. I have been struggling for a long time''
''But its not just that. the pain is too much really and I don't want to continue playing this way'' he stated

Not was Murray an activist of gender equality, hr made history by becoming the first tennis player to appoint a woman as his head coach against the trend where retired male tennis players were hired as head coach for female tennis players.
Many top tennis players like Nadal has expressed shock at the news in an interview saying that Murray decision was regrettable as he had admired the challenge Murray brought to the competition since their academy time. Nasal did not hide his feeling on how the tennis industry, fans and the world will miss to see Andy in the court against.
Murray only participated in only 14 matches throughout 2018 after long waiting to return to action in June after a year out but seem he has given up on himself as he had a discussion with his team telling them that he can't push any further.
