The journalist of the New York Times, Maria Rotarberg, reported about the decision of Maria Sharapova's staff. The Russian tennis player was about to play in Beijing, Tianjin and Moscow this year. In the last season she won in Tianjin and that's why now she will lose 280 points.

“I was looking forward to coming back to Tianjin to defend my title but unfortunately I need to give myself time to recover from injury,” she also added “I am disappointed that I won’t be able to play in front of all of the fans in Tianjin again and I hope to be able to play there in the future."

The five-time Grand Slam champion is currently the 24th tennis player in the world. This year she did not win any tournament, but she was in the quarterfinals of Roland Garros and the fourth round of the US Open. For this she added semifinals in Shenzhen and Rome and the quarter-finals of the Madrid event. It should be enough to stay in Top 30.

Sharapova has a tough season behind. The health problems affected her tennis results. In March, the tennis player admitted that she has some problems with hand. Additionally she cures for pulmonary reflux, which makes it difficult for her to travel by plane. Now she would like to rest and regenerate, and then start preparations for the new season. The Russian woman will come back in 2019 and she will play in Shenzhen, China.

Would you like to see her in Asia or Moscow? Or do you think it's better for her to recover first and come back stronger in the next season?
