The Australian "Herald Sun" has published a graphic in which the author makes fun of Serena Williams. The case has outraged many well-known personalities, including J.K. Rowling, the author of "Harry Potter."

To remind you: in the US Open Sunday final Serena Williams argued with the judge, she also called him "thief" and "sexist," and demanded an apology. She totally lost her temper, which led her to the failure with the Japanese Naomi Osaka. The matter of her emotional explosion divided the tennis environment.

The graphics that did not appeal to many people, showed up. On the picture you can see Williams' caricature, who furiously destroys its rocket. In the background, we see a judge saying to the other tennis player "Can you just let her win?". The author of the drawing, Mark Knight, has met with a lot of criticism.

First of all, the author was accused of Naomi Osaka's blond hair. Additionally, Serena looks furious and unnerved, and apparently J.K. Rowling didn't like it. She ironically wrote on her twitter account:

The editor of the magazine tries to defend his cartoonist, claiming that the allegations are completely groundless, and that he did not mean it. However on the Internet a real storm has already broke out.

It's really hard to understand what happened to Williams in the unlucky evening. In an interview with onet.pl, Daria Abramowicz, a sports psychologist explains the problem. She said that Serena is overloaded on several levels:

  • First of all, it's a year after birth of her daughter and after she was in a life threatening condition. Combining motherhood and practicing sports, especially at the elite level, is a huge effort. Especially that Williams also mentioned that she experienced many difficult emotions in this area and that it was a huge challenge for her.
  • The second issue is certainly the weight of the tournament. The US Open is a very important and special tournament for Serena. In addition, she played almost at home, and the audience gave words of praise almost at every step.
  • Thirdly - in Daria Abramowicz's opinion, it can also be Williams' desire to win the Grand Slam tournament for the 24th time. She wants to build some history, which also enhances the media message and what the team's staff shows.

How many other factors played an important role here? This probably knows only Serena Williams. Such accumulation of tension and difficult emotions usually causes that "something" can become a trigger mechanism and then an explosion occurs. Often in the least appropriate and at the same time the most important moment for the competitor. For example, in the final of an important tournament or during the Olympic Games. Where the stake is the largest.

What do you think about the whole situation, about the Serena Williams' behavior and about the controversial caricature?
