Novak Djokovic triumphed against long-term rival
Rafael Nadal to complete their delayed semi-final in a five-set
thriller that lasted five hours and 17 minutes at Wimbledon on
Saturday.
The two former champions could not complete their contest on Friday
after the previous semi-final between Kevin Anderson and John Isner
finished in a record-breaking time of six hours and 36 minutes.
Djokovic was the overnight leader by two-sets-to one when their match
was stopped and even though Nadal rallied valiantly to force a fifth
and save a match point, Djokovic prevailed 6-4, 3-6, 7-6( 11-9),
3-6, 10-8 to enter his fifth Wimbledon final.
The 12-time grand slam winner will compete against South African
eighth seed Anderson, who plays in his second major final, at 2 pm
(1200 GMT) on Sunday.
Later Saturday Serena Williams is chasing her eighth Wimbledon title
in a repeat of the 2016 women's final against Angelique Kerber.
