Russian Daniel Medvedev rose to fourth place in the professional tennis players' association published Monday, after winning the French Masters tournament on Sunday.

Last Friday, the Serbian Novak Djokovic secured first place for the sixth year and equaled the record for the American Pete Sampras, at the expense of his direct chaser and his Spanish rival Rafael Nadal. Djokovic, 33, became the oldest player to finish the season at the top of the world rankings.

On the other hand, Medvedev succeeded in winning his first title in 2020, by beating German Alexander Zverev by three sets in the final match in Paris, to overtake Roger Federer, who was absent from the sights of his recovery from knee surgery and equaled the best rating in his career he achieved in September 2019.

Medvedev raised his tally to three Masters titles for a thousand points out of four final matches, after he had previously won the Cincinnati and Shanghai titles last year, while he also lost the Montreal final in 2019.

Zverev remained seventh in the classification, but was 1606 points behind Russian Andrei Rublev VIII.

Canadian Milos Raonic knew the best jump among the top twenty, by rising to fourteenth place, after reaching the semi-finals in Paris. This is the highest rating for the 29-year-old player since March 2019.

This week, the Bulgarian Sofia tournament (250 points) will be held, in which Canadian Denis Shapovalov, ranked 12 in the world, is the most prominent participant.
