As everyone knows, Elina Svitolina took part in the WTA tournament in Dubai. In the second round, she played against the representative of Russia Svetlana Kuznetsova. Unfortunately for the residents of Odessa, Elina failed this meeting. But the defeat turned out to be not so much terrible as it seemed at first glance. It was especially scary to read what Elina began to write on social networks.
The essence of the problem
On the net, on the territory of Ukraine, a real war, persecution, was started against Elina Svitolina. They began to throw mud at the first racket of Ukraine and the fifth racket of the World, accusing her of all mortal sins. Up to betrayal. Say, why go to court against Russian athletes, how could you lose to the enemy, you don't know how to play, don't take a racket in your hands, and so on. But the wave of indignation is caused not so much by the comments themselves, where they are trying to discuss the game, but by those where open threats and insults are heard. Moreover, from those who understand tennis in the same way as a pig in oranges.
Elina tried to reason with her subscribers and stop this hate. But nobody wants to hear the voice of reason. Especially nationalists, representatives of Western Ukraine. Yes, Odessa and Western Ukraine cannot be friends. Here we began to remember everything in a row. Even something that never happened.
Reaction of the Ukrainian Tennis Federation
Representatives of the Federation said that such statements are unacceptable. They supported the best tennis player in Ukraine. In particular, the message says that it is now inappropriate to discuss this or that sporting event. Especially if the commentator does not understand the issue he is raising.
Separately, the emphasis was made on the fact that it is unacceptable to express your opinion in an offensive tone. Human dignity must not be insulted. Moreover, such outstanding athletes as Elina Svitolina. Yes, everyone's opinion is invaluable, but communication must be correct and constructive.
Each of us can make mistakes. Each of us has moments of rise and fall. Not everyone will be able to show 100% results for decades, without failures. Elina Svitolina proved that she is a true professional. It is not the first day, month or year that she has been confidently in the TOP-5 of the best tennis players in the World. We must thank her for her work and achievements. In no case should you stoop to insults.
Personally, I believe that Elina always strives to fight only for victory. Yes, I understand that it does not always work out what I would like and planned. This is life! This is sport! In tennis, every athlete strives for victory. There is real sports competition and wrestling.
