Son Heung-Min is certain to be performing at the 2018 Asian Games after Tottenham Hotspur agreed to allow his flagship striker to defend the South Korea Under-23 national team.
However, the joint decision between Tottenham and the South Korean Football Federation (KFA) was based on one condition, namely that Son did not need to appear to defend South Korea at the international break in November and January.
With this consensus agreed upon, Son officially became one of the three over-age players in the Under-23 South Korea squad, in addition to attackers Hwang Ui-jo and goalkeeper Jo Hyeon-woo.
Son is scheduled to arrive in Indonesia on August 13th so she missed South Korea's opener against Bahrain held the day before. The reason, Spurs use Son power in the opening party of English Premier League 2018/19 against Newcastle United on 11 August.
