The boss was visibly angry and left disappointed as the Referee blew the full-time whistle of the natch against the Reds. His side deserved more than what they got in the match and Mourinho was right during this after match interview.
Liverpool might have controlled more possession in the match but that's how spurs play their game. They leave the playing on the ball in their opponent's hands and hit on a counter. The goal scored by Son was a testament to how Tottenham has perfected playing on the counter.
In the first half, they play badly and had just one chance which was converted and after the break, the Spurs team was wasteful in front of goals. They had the most clear cut chances in the game and could have won this game with a 2-3 goal margin if all chances were converted.
Liverpool on the other hand could count themselves lucky with the three points stolen right under Mourinho's nose. They completely switched off from the game in the second part of the matchup but they were fortunate not to be punished.
The match statistics might have been in favor of Liverpool but the result of the game wasn't a deserved one. Even the Liverpool team knew they didn't deserve the win and that was why the goal which won the match was celebrated with much pleasure.
In Liverpool's defense, they played with a much-depleted team having over 7 players on the treatment table. They had to play with makeshift defense as all their first choice center-backs were injured. For much of the season, almost all the team players have been down or out either through injury or Covid 19.
Although injuries have been their greatest enemy this season but they continue to grind out results week after week. Their win against Tottenham at Anfield makes their season home win stands at 100 %.
Klopp and his lads will enjoy this win and they will sleep loudly on their bed tonight while the Spurs team will pounder on the missed chances they should have converted.
