On Sunday, May 18th, 1924, the United States defeated France 17-3 to win the fourth gold medal in Olympic men’s rugby history. It was the second gold medal for the United States in Olympic men’s rugby. France took their second silver medal with the loss, as Romania claimed their first bronze as the third and final team entered into the tournament, as well as the first medal for Romania as a whole in the Summer Olympics. The tournament was held in France, with Paris as the host city.
Richard Hyland and John Patrick of the United States, as well as Adolphe Jaureguy of France, all tied for the most tries during the tournament with four apiece.
