It was the second gold medal for France in Olympic men’s rugby. Fiji took their first silver medal with the loss, as South Africa claimed their second bronze medal in Olympic men’s rugby with their 26-19 victory over Australia in the bronze medal match. The tournament was held in France, with Paris as the host city.
