I find myself having to contradict my last preview article in this report which seems to be the way in tennis most of the time with most writers. It's such an unpredictable sport on a game to game basis pretty much like the world cup! Last time I wrote about how impressed I was with Murray's comeback vs Kyrgios and Wawrinka.

Well last night Murray was outclassed by an even more impressive Kyle Edmund. I wasn't completely in shock with how Edmund wiped the floor with Murray. Before I even started writing about Murray's return on Scorum I had written about how Edmund would shine at Wimbledon with Murray's return in doubt due to a hip injury. But Edmund yesterday was on a different level to how both Kyrgios and Wawrinka played against Murray at Queens and early on at Eastbourne.

Edmund came out of the blocks and blew Murray away from the word go hitting winners with ease left, right and centre. To put the icing on the cake, his serve was unbelievably on song where he landed so many firsts in with precision compared to Murray's very poor service game.

Even through Murray's persistent defense Edmund managed to plough through him with his ferocious forehand, painting the lines and wrong footing Murray on many occasions. Edmund didn't even look tired half the time which is the benefit of having an offensive rather than defensive game - offensive players get to dictate the way the game goes and the game is won or lost on their racket. Players like Murray can only hope the Edmunds of the circuit are off song with their big forehands. Especially since Edmund has great movement around the court too which can help him counter Murray's defense and give himself more than one shot at a winner per point.

On Edmund's weaker side - his backhand which he has been working on improving with his coach over the past two years he also looked the more aggressive player than Murray getting more depth and speed which forced Murray even deeper behind the baseline.

Edmund went 2 breaks up in the second set before conceding a break to Murray and then holding serve comfortably once again to wrap up the match 6-4, 6-4.

Throughout the entire match Edmund was always in the driving seat, never went a break down and held most of his games with ease. On this play he is definitely a threat to anyone at Wimbledon. Murray on the other hand I hope at Wimbledon will look to improve on his serve consistency as a bare minimum.
