Retro is an absolute trend of alternate NHL uniforms this year. Adidas finally started to make the 3rd complets for the NHL teams this offseason, and 90% of them are vintage ones. We have seen already the 2018-19 alternate uniforms of Carolina Hurricanes, Arizona Coyotes, Vancouver Canucks, Anaheim Ducks, St.Louis Blues and New Jersey Devils. Recently three more NHL teams joined and presented their third jerseys from Adidas.
Columbus Blue Jackets
The Blue Jackets brought back the cannon alternate jersey, which was used by the team in 2010-2017 before Adidas replaced Reebok as the main league's outfitter. The fans in Columbus love these jerseys and so excited to see them on the ice again.
Colorado Avalanche
The Avalanche presented the fan-favourite jersey, too. Like the Blue Jackets, they used this design in 2015-2017 before Adidas came and now decided to continue using it. As well as fans in Columbus, the Colorado community is happy about this uniform from the past. Looks nice.
Winnipeg Jets
Instead of the others, the team from the coldest NHL city presented a brand new alternate uniform. It's clear, it's accurate, and it's have nothing in common with the main jerseys nor with the jerseys of the previous Winnipeg NHL franchise.
Fans "updated" this new jersey adding red colour to make it more similar to the classic Jets' uniform.
Which one is better as you think?
Boston Bruins
It's still not an official information, but Boston Bruins will present an old school jersey along with the retro uniform for the 2019 Winter Classic in Notre Dame. Looks like Bruins classic jersey from 80's-90's, and it's cool. We'll wait for the official presentation.
Calgary Flames
The team from Alberta presents the new alternate jersey on September 21. What should it look like? I think, there are two options, 1989 Championship retro jersey or return of the 1998-2006 alternate uniform with the Flame horse. We already saw the Championship retro in the last decade, so it'd rather be the horse. Interesting to see.
