When it comes to basketball in Venezuela we have a great passion and love for this sport, especially supporting our national team which is the sport that has given our country more joy.
There are many achievements that Venezuela has in this great discipline that is basketball, the most recent champion of America in 2015 that gave him the direct pass to the Rio Olympics in Brazil in 2016.
In these qualifiers for the 2019 World Basketball Championship in China, Venezuela's national team has taken a firm step and is in a firm battle for first place in its group.
Yesterday in Caracas, Venezuela clashed with Brazil who also hold the lead in the group. Venezuela faced the game with the great defensive mentality that characterizes it from start to finish, in turn feeding a very fluid offensive, was a great game for Venezuela who had to win by more than 13 points to be able to keep the top spot in the group and managed to do the job by beating Brazil by 16 points.
Now Venezuela must travel to Chile with the objective of winning to consolidate the leadership of the group, since the next round is coming and all the victories and defeats are dragging towards the next instances, so all the record you have is worth and added up.
Venezuela has a great potential in basketball in fact is the third country in South America with more NBA players, we can name Carl Herrera who was the first to reach the most important league in the world, who in turn was champion with Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs, then the second Venezuelan to arrive at the NBA was Oscar Torres who played with Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors, and the most recent player to arrive was Greivis Vasquez who via draft at #28 was signed by Memphis Grizzlies, then via juice changes at New Orleans, Sacramento Kings, Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets.
In the neighborhoods of Caracas and throughout Venezuela there is a lot of talent for this sport but there is a structural flaw of many years on the part of the outgoing basketball federation of Venezuela, who did not do the work in the bases of the youth categories and we had several years lacking to feed with the best pieces our national team.
Fortunately, thanks to the names and talents that have emerged in an isolated way and with a team of players that have been workers and have improved in many ways tactically and defensively, Venezuela is beginning to show its true face, and recently with the election of a new federation everything seems to be taking a turn to continue improving and to be one of the best teams on the planet, because we have already managed to be the best in America with the championship in 2015, we are currently #20 in the world ranking.
In short, when we love a discipline like basketball and have a real passion for our national team, we live with the triumphs and defeats but always unconditional to our national colors, so this sport is one of the best disciplines in the world.
