What a game! Ladies competitions are often more exciting than those of the men. The Belgium Cats confirmed it again last night. What many considered to be impossible, became truth.

Before the start of the game against host country Spain, the Belgian Cats seemed to be limping on two thoughts:

The win against the European champion or saving power with a view to the barrages.

On the pitch it became clear that Belgium could compete with the host country and the belief in a stunt against the vice-olympic champion grew considerably. A very strong tandem Kim Mestdagh-Emma Meesseman didthe team exceed their best level and at halftime there was an unforeseen gap of 7 points on the board.

With a victory of 8 points or more, Belgium would win his group and so the Cats continued their elan after the break. Thanks to a great team effort, the Belgian women ran up to 15 points, but in the final quarter Spain started to play more and more aggressively.

The Spanish women nibbled their gap slowly step by step and at one second from the end, Xargay aimed for two free throws, which meant that the gap was 7 points. But in that one second Allemand found Meesseman, who put the 72-63 on the board.

The winner of France-Turkey awaits Friday in the 1/4th final
