Last Friday night, the Iranians witnessed how their national team defeated the Philippines in the FIBA world cup. The game finished with a total score of 81-73. A very close game on the first half but Iran successfully finished the last quarter with an impressive 3-points shot.
Even without Hamed Haddadi on the side of Iran, they still have the power to beat the Philippines. Haddadi has a groin injury so the coach didn't give him too much playing time. He only played on the last minute of the last quarter of the game. Bahrami, Mashayekhi, and Kasemi lead the Iran team to with a score of 21, 19 and 11 respectively.
The Philippines also did a great job to slow down Iran. But the effort they gave was not enough to stop Iran's shooting guards. Christian Standhardinger who played really incredible for the Philippines with a total of 30 points. No one can stop him in the first half of the game. The only problem with the Philippines is no one helped Standhardinger to score more points. The shooters only got less than 15 points.
Iran has already 6 wins and 1 losses in Fiba Asian Qualifiers and they got the 2nd spot in Group F. While the Philippines has 4 wins and 3 losses having the 4th spot next to Iran. Iran will face Japan on Monday 17:10 GMT+09 in Tokyo, Japan. And still on Monday 19:30 GMT+08, the Philippines will defend their 3rd spot against Qatar in Quezon City, Philippines.
