After an official statement that Jordan Clarkson will be joining the Philippines, Clarkson boarded a flight for Indonesia via Singapore and that Clarkson will fall short of the scheduled time against Kazakhstan. But still, Gilas coaching staff are confident that all their players are ready to clash with Kazakhstan on their first match even without the aid of Clarkson.
The first game of Gilas is really crucial that they needed to win to get ahead of the standings and might possibly secure their slot for quarterfinals. But facing Kazakhstan will not that easy since the Philippines have already encountered Kazakhstan several times in many tournaments and each of those matches are closely gap and even they have a history of losing from Kazakhstan.
This is a wake-up call for every player of Gilas that should always focus on the game and let their teamwork be a pathway for their chance of winning. Aside from Jordan Clarkson, current Philippine Team has good guard rosters like Paul Lee and Stanley Pringle who can really help set plays for the team. With some good creation of plays then they could have a good offense that could help the team's advantage.
Tab Baldwin who has been a former coach of Gilas evaluates Paul Lee and Stanley Pringle that are good selected guard position players for Gilas. He also told that those players have done a great job in PBA and that their shown skills on the league can be an asset for the team in Asian Games.
Philippine Team also looking forward on the help of big men Standhardinger, Taulava and Almazan that they may give a good contribution in terms of close-range offense, defense, and rebounds.
Clarkson will be on China match
With Clarkson arriving in Indonesia after Philippine's match against Kazakhstan will still have a chance to show his acquired skill and talent in NBA against China on their second game. Clarkson and the other Gilas players will have a set of practice with Clarkson as their preparation against China. Even though they have already done some practice games with Clarkson and Gilas players, still they need to put some hard work and more effort to be able to blend their chemistry towards players.
Clarkson was selected by the Philippines to be the flag-bearer of the country on the opening ceremony of Asian Games this coming August 18. I am sure that Clarkson will be proud of this since aside from playing under Philippine for the first time, he is the chosen one to carry the flag of the Philippines.
Surely that opening ceremony will be full of surprises, that is why sports enthusiast should not miss the opportunity to witness the event.
