Partizan Belgrade won Maccabi Tel Aviv in Euroleague basketball with result of 98:75 yesterday. It was very good and in some moments spectacular basketball match. It began with throwing of toys which will end in hands of poor kids like New Year presents. It happen during emitting song saying how our love toward black and white colors can not stop. Choreography with a lot of black and white hearts was also very nice to see.
Partizan took lead of 10 points in the beginning of the game after very very good first quarter and kept it during almost entire game which ended up in win with 23 points. Black and whites stopped Maccabi players and didn't allow them to score so called easy points. Number of balls they took from opponent was amazing and if I remember correct it was 17 or something like that. Team from Belgrade had 24 more possessions of ball and attacks than opponent because of that and both coaches pointed out to that as key segment of this game. Serbian most famous basketball club controlled rebounds pretty good too and had excellent shooting night and win couldn't escape. Serbian representative also had 31 or 34 assists in this match which was the highest this season showing those players are playing for each other!
The most beautiful moment of this match was when Aleksej Pokusevski stole ball from Tamir Blatt ran in counter attack and then hide ball behind his back on spectacular way moving it from one hand to another just to send it high toward teammate for alley-oop. That was beauty of basketball, that was awesome, spectacular!
USA ambassador Christopher Hill has been seen watching this match from higher level in Partizan Belgrade shirt. That was also nice to see. I hope this is important signal to authorities in Serbia that they will not be allowed to continue destroying this sport society like they have been doing in last decade and especially since 2020. Unfortunately some fans insulted high ranked diplomat and also sang disgusting song against ruler of Serbia showing their IQ is not on the highest level and that they can't develop any other decent anti-regime/ruller song. They didn't listen the most famous coach in Europe Zeljko Obradovic who said "I appeal to all fans not to insult anyone on our games!" I personally don't support ruler of this country, but I am very much against this disgraceful song because it's distracting things and lead toward empty football stadium when they sing it there! It's not the biggest problem if he is or he is not that, other wrong things he's doing are much more important. They can sing on example to the ruler to resign, to go away, to return in constitution's jurisdictions by telling "you have no jurisdiction on this" like students told him, or to keep his hands off from Partizan sport society, or to allow fair sport competition and remain decent and gain wider support. Primitive insult they are singing are not really helping that cause.
Portals and media outlets under control of authorities fully ignore and not telling people what coach Zeljko Obradovic said before and after the game and pretend he's not existing because the most famous coach of European continent supported ongoing student protests and demands regarding tragedy in city of Novi Sad and other things.
He also told a lot of nice things about director of club Ostoja Miailovic and his work. Current president deserved that because he came in the dressing room after couple of painful losses telling coach club is fully behind him. He has big plus for that and for stabilizing this basketball club in financial matters. He's member of ruling party too. He couldn't do that if he didn't get jobs by state and got help of top person in this country.I know this state is giving much more to Red Star, but if hey give 50% of that to Partizan and keep sport sector in football, waterpolo and other clubs of this society to work without interfering and let honest sport where better in sport way wins and not someone because he has more fans, tougher hooligans or bigger influence among referees then I am satisfied. Last one is the most important.
Famous local actor and big Partizan fan Bogdan Diklić also came to match with his wife with bag of toys for poor kids too.
With this win Partizan Belgrade squad remained in fight for one of places which lead toward play-in with 9 wins and 10 losses. They are that low because of Euroleague non fair referees who helped opponents to win at lest 3 if not more tight matches. Next games are tough, but this squad showed they can play against anyone and Euroleague teams are very similar and anyone can win anyone this year. Let's hope we can reach plain-in or playoff spot and show what can we do then.
