I'm starting a new series of posts in which I'll try to bring your attention to the clubs that proved profitable to back. In the first instalment I present to you Woking FC, a club on fire.
Founded in 1889, managed by Alan Dowson (an ex-player that went through the Millwall's youth ranks all the way to the pro contract) and promoted to the National League in 2018/19 season after winning the National League South play-offs final.
As any newly promoted club they were the main candidates for the relegation at the beginning of the season, but after 8 games they are sitting at the top of the table with 21 points.
Now, the interesting part.
I've got a theory that the bookies give the management of odds for the lower leagues to their worst analysts which results, season after season, in the odds that provide huge value. It takes the bookies a lot of time to adjust and till they do (if you manage to spot a club on fire) you're making money hand over fist.
Here's the return that you'd have by backing Woking FC in every game till date:
- Dag & Red 0 - 2 Woking - Woking @3.40 [WON]
- Woking 0 - 1 Aldershot - Woking @2.20 [LOST]
- Woking 1 - 0 Harrogate - Woking @2.80 [WON]
- Chesterfield 1 - 2 Woking - Woking @4.33 [WON]
- AFC Fylde 1 - 4 Woking - Woking @5.75 [WON]
- Woking 2 - 0 Solihull Moors - Woking @4.20 [WON]
- Dover Athletic 1 - 2 Woking - Woking @4.20 [WON]
- Woking 3 - 2 Barrow - Woking @2.50 [WON]
They won seven out of the eight games and they did that at some ridiculously high odds. Let's do some math:
8 units staked | +19.18 units | +239.75% ROI
This is by far the most profitable club I've found this season. This doesn't happen often, but each season I'm able to find a few clubs in the lower leagues that are just outperforming while being considered the underdogs by the bookies. So, keep an eye on these posts :-)
PS - Woking is playing today against Torquay and I my money is on Woking @2.500
